2013 NBA Mock Draft: Round 1

2014 NBA Mock Draft
2012 NBA Mock Draft
2011 NBA Mock Draft
2010 NBA Mock Draft
2009 NBA Mock Re-Draft
Updated: May 22, 2013.

Team needs and outstanding trades have been taken into account with this mock draft.

  1. Cleveland Cavaliers: Shane Larkin, PG, Miami, 5-11, Soph.
Shane Larkin could easily be a first-round pick, so this would be great value selection for the Cavaliers while also adding needed backcourt depth.

  2. Oklahoma City Thunder: Archie Goodwin, SG, Kentucky, 6-5, Fr.
An NBA-level athlete, Archie Goodwin has some cracks to his game (specifically his jump shot) and is a major slider in this mock. He would be well worth the risk at this point for the Thunder.

  3. Cleveland Cavaliers: Glen Rice Jr., G/F, NBADL, 6-6
After getting kicked off his team at Georgia Tech, Rice Jr. had a terrific season in the D-League and would add some potential scoring punch off Cleveland's lackluster bench.

  4. Houston Rockets: Nate Wolters, G, South Dakota State, 6-5, Sr.
The Rockets don't have much depth at guard behind James Harden and Jeremy Lin.

  5. Philadelphia 76ers: DeShaun Thomas, SF, Ohio State, 6-7, Jr.
The 76ers need depth on the wing since Nick Young and Dorrell Wright are both free agents.

  6. Sacramento Kings: Tony Snell, SF, New Mexico, 6-7, Jr.
Tony Snell could develop into a role player down the road due to his athleticism and ability to shoot it from deep.

  7. Washington Wizards: Brandon Paul, SG, Illinois, 6-4, Sr.
The Wizards need some depth at guard behind John Wall and Bradley Beal. I think Brandon Paul is being undervalued in this draft and could potentially be a threat off someone's bench.

  8. Detroit Pistons: Lorenzo Brown, PG, N.C. State, 6-5, Jr.
With Jose Calderon a free agent, the Pistons would be wise to add some depth at point guard.

  9. Portland Trail Blazers: Livio Jean Charles, F, France, 6-9, 1993
Another player who caught the attention of NBA scouts at the Nike Hoops Summit, Livio Jean Charles plays with terrific energy.

  10. Portland Trail Blazers: Kenny Kadji, PF, Miami, 6-10, Sr.
The Trail Blazers add more frontcourt depth since J.J. Hickson is a free agent. Kenny Kadji has good size and the ability to stretch defenses with his perimeter shooting.

  11. Memphis Grizzlies: Vander Blue, SG, Marquette, 6-5, Jr.
The Grizzlies could use depth at the two since Tony Allen is a free agent. Blue is a tremendous athlete and showed strides this past season with his perimeter game as well.

  12. Philadelphia 76ers: C.J. Leslie, F, N.C. State, 6-9, Jr.
C.J. Leslie is a ridiculous athlete who excels above the rim, but there are some concerns about his intangibles.

  13. Milwaukee Bucks: Isaiah Canaan, PG, Murray State, 6-0, Sr.
Brandon Jennings will be a restricted free agent and the Bucks really don't have any options behind him, so a point guard makes sense.

  14. Dallas Mavericks: Pierre Jackson, PG, Baylor, 5-10, Sr.
The Mavericks need options at the point since Darren Collison and Rodrigue Beaubois could both leave via free agency.

  15. Portland Trail Blazers: Erick Green, G, Virginia Tech, 6-3, Sr.
Green is a terrific scoring combo guard and adds depth to the weak Trail Blazers bench.

  16. Utah Jazz: Mike Muscala, PF/C, Bucknell, 6-11, Sr.
The Bison big is an inside/outside threat and adds more depth inside in case Al Jefferson or Paul Millsap leave via free agency.

  17. Atlanta Hawks: Norvell Pelle, PF, LA College Prep, 6-10, Fr.
With the third of their four picks of the 2013 NBA Draft, the Hawks can roll the dice on a young man loaded with a lot of potential.

  18. Los Angeles Lakers: Will Clyburn, G/F, Iowa State, 6-7, Sr.
With Kobe's injury, the Lakers needs to add scoring options on the wing.

  19. Chicago Bulls: James Southerland, SF, Syracuse, 6-8, Sr.
With limitless range from the outside, James Southerland could find a home at the next level due to his ability to stretch defenses.

  20. Atlanta Hawks: Myck Kabongo, PG, Texas, 6-3, Soph.
Myck Kabongo is a pure distrbutor with high upside and the Hawks need talent all across the board.

  21. Orlando Magic: Ray McCallum, PG, Detroit, 6-2, Jr.
McCallum can score a high level, but is not a pure distributor and NBA-level athlete.

  22. Minnesota Timberwolves: Andre Roberson, SF, Colorado, 6-7, Jr.
A tremendous athlete, Andre Roberson was a prolific rebounder at the college level but is still improving his perimeter shooting.

  23. Indiana Pacers: Grant Jarrett, PF, Arizona, 6-10, Fr.
A stretch four who is nowhere near ready to contribute right away, Jarrett will spend some time in the D-League but does have solid potential.

  24. Washington Wizards: Solomon Hill, SF, Arizona, 6-7, Jr.
The Wildcats senior is a versatile wing who can do a little bit of everything on the floor, but doesn't excel in any one particular area.

  25. Memphis Grizzlies: Alex Abrines, SG, Spain, 6-5, 1993
With three second-round picks, the Grizzlies could use this pick as a draft-and-stash option.

  26. Detroit Pistons: Trevor Mbakwe, PF, Minnesota, 6-8, Sr.
Trevor Mbakwe should be able to contribute off somebody's bench due to his ability to rebound the basketball.

  27. Phoenix Suns: Ryan Kelly, PF, Duke, 7-0, Sr.
The Blue Devils senior is a stretch four who can stroke it from outside.

  28. San Antonio Spurs: Brandon Davies, PF, BYU, 6-10, Sr.
The Spurs could lose some frontcourt depth to free agency, so it makes sense to add some depth inside.

  29. Minnesota Timberwolves: Marko Todrovic, C, Montenegro, 6-11, 1992
The Timberwolves could use their fourth pick of the 2013 NBA Draft as a "stash overseas" option.

  30. Memphis Grizzlies: Richard Howell, PF, N.C. State, 6-8, Sr.
A bit undersized, Richard Howell is physical in the paint and has a decent mid-range game as well.

why is everyone marking down the pelicans to draft a PG at number 5? Vasquez was one of the top PGs in assists this past season. If anything we will draft a SF/SG

Detroit Pistons will take Ray McCallum from Detroit University as a point in the Second Round. They have two picks and he is a hometown hero with huge upside. Dad is also close by to keep his head on straight.

Are you aware that the now official name of New Orleans NBA team is called the Pelicans. It became official the day after the season ended. So if you want to be up to date, in the future it would be correct to call them the New Orleans Pelicans.

I like your first pick for the Cavs but I really feel like they are going to try and draft a Center or bigger PF that can play either positions. I know they just drafted Zeller but I expect the Cavs to either trade or start looking for a new guy to replace Varejao and have Zeller come off the bench. Zeller looked okay at times but unless he adds another 20 or so pounds I don't seem him being able to take the physical NBA game.

Love your site but you gotta change the IU logo. That logo was used for Football not basketball and hasn't even been used for football in about 15 years!
