Team needs and outstanding trades have been taken into account with this mock draft.
-
Cleveland Cavaliers: Otto Porter, SF, Georgetown, 6-8, Soph.
I don't get the fascination with handing Nerlens Noel the No. 1 spot. Does Cleveland need another offensively challenged frontcourt player? No. The Cavaliers are lacking a true small forward and Otto Porter would be the perfect fit here. His all-around ability would be a terrific young piece to add to the talented young backcourt of Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters. The only scenario I could see Cleveland taking Noel is if the team is ready to trade Anderson Varejao - which is a possible scenario. -
Orlando Magic: Nerlens Noel, PF, Kentucky, 7-0, Fr.
The re-building Magic could use improved talent all across the board and adding an athletic shot blocker like Noel would be a nice piece to add alongside the promising Nikola Vucevic. If Noel does goes No. 1, look for Orlando to target Trey Burke, Ben McLemore, or Victor Oladipo. -
Washington Wizards: Anthony Bennett, PF, UNLV, 6-8, Fr.
With their backcourt of John Wall and Bradley Beal set for the foreseeable future, the Wizards pass on Burke and McLemore. Instead Washington turns its attention to Anthony Bennett, who would provide a needed spark at power forward. If Cleveland ends up picking Noel, Porter won't fall past this pick. -
Charlotte Hornets: Ben McLemore, SG, Kansas, 6-5, Fr.
Neither Ben Gordon nor Gerald Henderson appear to be the long-term answer at shooting guard for the Hornets. The selection of could Ben McLemore give Charlotte a needed scorer and shooter on the wing to go alongside Kemba Walker and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. -
Phoenix Suns: Victor Oladipo, SG, Indiana, 6-4, Jr.
The Suns sorely need and upgrade of talent on the wing and should target someone like Ben McLemore or Victor Oladipo. With McLemore off the board at this point, Victor Oladipo is the selection. -
New Orleans Pelicans: Alex Len, C, Maryland, 7-1, Soph.
This pick will come to Len or Burke. Greivis Vasquez had a breakout season for the Pelican last year at the point so a point guard isn't necessary. Robin Lopez played well in the middle, but Len and Anthony Davis could be a frontcourt duo of the future too good to pass up.
Sacramento Kings: Trey Burke, PG, Michigan, 6-1, Soph.
The Kings are in a "best available player" position and Burke is certainly that guy. Sacramento doesn't really have a point guard who make plays for his teammates. Burke can be that guy, and he should be a better long-term floor general than Isaiah Thomas.-
Detroit Pistons: C.J. McCollum, SG, Lehigh, 6-3, Sr.
With a young frontcourt of Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond intact, the Pistons should focus on improving their wing play. C.J. McCollum is a combo guard, which might be a turn-off for a Pistons team that already has Brandon Knight and Rodney Stuckey, but McCollum's ability to shoot the rock is sorely needed in Detroit. -
Minnesota T-Wolves: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, SG, Georgia, 6-5, Soph.
The Timberwolves have been searching for a true a shooting guard but could also use some depth at center since Nikola Pekovic is a restricted free agent. Caldwell-Pope has ideal size for the two guard spot and can stroke it from the outside. -
Portland Trail Blazers: Shabazz Muhammad, G/F, UCLA, 6-6, Fr.
The Trail Blazers' bench was AWFUL last year, so the team needs depth all across the board and likely takes the best non-point guard available. Shabazz Muhammad was once considered a top prospect in the the 2013 NBA Draft, but a lot of question marks have risen lately. Still, he is a solid value at this point and, at the least, could bring some offensive punch off Portland's bench. -
Philadelphia 76ers: Cody Zeller, C, Indiana, 7-0, Soph.
Though I think Zeller is a massively overrated NBA prospect due to a lack of physicality, the 76ers could use some size inside. Another option for Philadelphia would be adding depth on the wing. -
Oklahoma City Thunder: Rudy Gobert, C, France, 7-2, 1992
This is a luxury pick for the Thunder, so the team can take a chance on an athletic big with a huge wingspan (7-9) and allow him time to develop.
Oklahoma City owns the Raptors' pick (via the Houston/Kyle Lowry) from the James Harden trade. Go here to see all of the outstanding 2013 NBA Draft Trades. -
Dallas Mavericks: Michael Carter-Williams, PG, Syracuse, 6-6, Soph.
Rumors are swirling that the Mavericks want to deal this pick to save cap space for a potential run at Dwight Howard or Chris Paul. If Dallas hangs onto it, a guard will be targeted since O.J. Mayo has already said he will opt out of his contract and Darren Collison is a restricted free agent. -
Utah Jazz: Dennis Schroeder, PG, Germany, 6-2, 1993
With no point guard under contract for next season, the Jazz will likely use one of their first-round picks on a floor general. Dennis Schroeder really turned heads at the Nike Hoops Summit and has drawn some comparisons to Rajon Rondo. -
Milwaukee Bucks: Shane Larkin, PG, Miami, 5-11, Soph.
With Brandon Jennings a restricted free agent, Monta Ellis holding a player option on the final year of his contract, and J.J. Redick an unrestricted free agent; the Bucks will be looking for backcourt depth. Though undersized, Shane Larkin really helped himself with terrific testing results at the NBA Draft Combine.

I still think the Cav's will be trading down from the one spot and picking up a small forward from FA to fill in right away.
This is what I still believe is a good bench draft with few Superstars but a lot of capable players that can contribute to a team if taken by the right team. Noel won't be ready till mid season and then won't be much as a factor then I believe. I would love to see my Cav's make the post season next year and they may they are not that far away from doing so.

Maclemore is a good talent but could he defend the likes of LeBron,Durant or the worst defender of these 3 Carmelo?I don't think so.I think a good deal would be to trade him for a different player(Pierce,Deng, any SF that'll upgrade CJ Miles).I'm saying this based on the fact that Dan Gilbert wants playoffs this year.

It is not going to be Noels, nor is it going to be Otto Porter with the first pick. Mark it down now it will be the best talent hands down in this draft, that being Ben Mclemore. This kid can flat out play. He is above and beyond way better than any of the above mentioned names. This young man can play.

Why does Glen Rice Jr have to enter the draft? He is already playing pro in the D-League for the Houston Rockets affiliate. He is not a graduating HS senior waiting out his class to be one year removed.
Shouldn't he be a FA and able to sign with any team, unless his contract says he is a member of the Rockets organization? They did draft him in the D League draft. Seems like a gray area here, not sure really what is right.
