Just getting started on my most recent post combine and FA mock... had a couple crazy ones before all the real process went down - now it's time to get serious :D

Round 1

Picks 1-16
1. Browns: Sam Darnold, Quarterback, USC

It was obvious the Browns were gonna take a QB, but which one was the real question?
In the end, the 20 year old with size, strength, and mobility - that escapes pressure to extend plays - and that has great intangibles including great leadership... was the obvious choice... fumbles are a concern, but can be fixed - sitting his first year is an important part already in play...

2. Bills: Josh Allen, Quarterback, Wyoming

Bills spend a fortune to go get their QB of the future and the Giants finally bite...

Trade Value
2nd overall 2600

12th overall 1200
22nd overall 780
65th overall 265
with 355 to go plus overpaying so another 1st in 2019

3. Jets: Josh Rosen, Quarterback, UCLA

Broadway Mayfield has a nice ring and I woulda had the Jets taking Mayfield over Allen - but when Rosen slips to 3 the Jets pounce on the best pocket passer in the draft with the best throwing mechanics...

4. Browns: Bradley Chubb, Defensive End, N.C. State

Dorsey's dream scenario - 1st he get his best QB at one than he gets the only elite pass rusher at 4... Chubb is the only non QB that is a bluechip prospect at a premium position and adding this beast gives the Browns a fearsome pass rush that is arguably the best pass rush in the game which also takes pressure off the secondary... great pick...

5. Broncos: Baker Mayfield, Quarterback, Oklahoma

Broncos decide to take Baker Mayfield at 5 making 4 QBs go in the top 5!!!!
That might be a new record...
Mayfield fits in nice for the Broncos - Keenum is on a prove me kinda deal - not really seen as a long term answer yet...
Elway has gotta like Mayfield ;)
Although Quentin Nelson is tough to pass up...

6. Colts: Quenton Nelson, Offensive Guard, Notre Dame

Colts take the safest prospect over the sexiest prospect when they take Nelson over Barkley... not everyone will like it, but this is a smart move...

7. Buccaneers: Saquon Barkley, Running Back, Penn State

The Bucs grab the over hyped outside runner with great pass catching skills that is an elite home run hitter when in open space when he falls to 7... Barkley is not a horse or a control the game kinda back nor is he good between the tackles, but he is an exceptional athlete that has game breaking ability if used the right way... 7 is a good spot for Saquon...

8. Bears: Minkah Fitzpatrick, Safety, Alabama

Bears have enough holes that seeing Minkah at 8 as the BPA makes him an easy pick... they did consider Ward but just couldn't take Ward over Fitzpatrick...

9. 49ers: Roquan Smith, Outside Linebacker, Georgia

49ers were really hoping for Quentin Nelson here - but the best LB in the draft is a pretty nice consolation prize... Smith is a beast...

10. Raiders: Derwin James, Safety, Florida State

Raiders weren't sure which one they liked more between James and Roquan Smith but San Fran made the decision for them... Raiders are happy with the hard hitting SS at 10...

11. Dolphins: Denzel Ward, Cornerback, Ohio State

The fins are a little upset that none of their top 3 fell to them (Nelson, R Smith, or even Baker Mayfield) but Ward is still a pretty solid pick at 11... he doesn't have the best size, but his speed and ball skills are exceptional....

12. Giants: Marcus Davenport, Defensive End, Texas-San Antonio

Giants could go a lot of different way here, but the loss of JPP is a massive hole and Davenport has been climbing boards... many expect him to go to GB, but the Giants grab him first...

13. Redskins: Calvin Ridley, Wide Receiver, Alabama

Giving their new (but older) QB a new toy seems natural when the best WR is still on the board... Although run D was terrible for the Skins last year so either one of the 2 DT beasts (Vea or Payne) would also make plenty of sense...

14. Packers: Tremaine Edmunds, Outside Linebacker, Virginia Tech

too good of a play to pass on... came down to Josh Jackson and Edmunds once Davenport was gone...

15. Cardinals: Lamar Jackson, Quarterback, Louisville

The Cards take a long shot gamble on an athletic QB that is a former Heisman winner but has been falling on most boards lately...

16. Ravens: Vita Vea, Defensive Tackle, Washington

Vita Vea even sounds like a Ravens kinda pick... if Ridley was available I might give the Ravens the top WR, but Vea is too good to overlook with Ridley gone...
