2018 NFL Mock Draft by LGMnyjets - 3.12

Mock draft based on what I think will happen, not based on player value, but where I think players will go based on my research. And gut feeling about what the teams will do.

Round 1

Picks 1-16
1. Browns: Sam Darnold, Quarterback, USC

I have been leaning towards Allen here for a long time, but the more I think about it, the more I think it would be so dumb for John Dorsey n Hue Jackson to select Allen over Darnold. Dorsey did say hands size matters, but he also said multiple times WINNING matters. If hands size were that important to Dorsey he would have not picked Patrick Mahomes last year, whose hands size were exactly the same as Baker Mayfield 9 1/4. I believe the Browns like Darnold n Mayfield, n they have people inside their walls who absolutely love Mayfield, Hue Jackson being the first one. In the end both Darnold n Mayfield are winners, but in order to break the tie, I think you have to factor in potential, n off the field incidents. Darnold has more potential being 6-4, and he is completely clean off the field. I expect them to select Sam Darnold on draft night.

2. Giants: Bradley Chubb, Defensive End, N.C. State

After Dave Gettleman interview one thing stuck out to me. He said "if you have 3 players ranked the same who do you pick? If that happens you go to the next argument, which one of those 3 is a need?" This is why Gettleman will ultimately pick Chubb, Jason Pierre Paul left a big whole, n Chubb has potential to be better than Paul.

3. Jets: Baker Mayfield, Quarterback, Oklahoma

To me Darnold n Mayfield are the best QBs in this draft class. But there were strong reports that Mayfield was gonna be drafted by the Broncos at 5 if the Browns pass on him and this was what ultimately made the Jets pull the trigger for the trade. They know they might get a chance at Darnold if Dorsey decided to select Allen #1 overall, but if not Mayfield was gonna be there for them at 3.

4. Browns: Quenton Nelson, Offensive Guard, Notre Dame

It is really hard for me to see Dorsey picking Saquon Barkley here when he found Kareem Hunt in the 3rd round last year. They have 2 early second round draft picks. They could select Ronald Jones, Sony Michel or Guice whoever is there at the top of the 2nd round n get the same production they would have gotten put of Barkley. But they won't get a generational oline talent like Quenton Nelson in the 2nd.

5. Broncos: Minkah Fitzpatrick, Safety, Alabama

I think John Elway just realize that sitting at 5 he is gonna lose on Mayfield and his #2 option Quenton Nelson is gonna go to the Browns. I think the later promp Elway to come out n say the pick is for sale. This could be though luck for Elway cause with Allen, Rosen n Jackson left I don't think many teams will come calling for that pick. It would take a desperate team like Arizona. But Because the Bills are picking so close to Broncos I don't see them trading up just yet.

6. Colts: Roquan Smith, Outside Linebacker, Georgia

This could be a trading spot for the Bills to jump the Dolphins for Josh Allen, but if it is not, I can definitely see the colts drafting Raquon Smith.

7. Bills: Josh Allen, Quarterback, Wyoming

Here is where I see the trade, because the bucs could have wanted Quenton Nelson n Minkah Fitzpatrick or even Roquan Smith but with all of them gone, they start calling to move down. I think Josh Allen fits Buffalo perfectly, that freezing cold and a big arm QB is a match made in heaven.

9. Patriots: Lamar Jackson, Quarterback, Louisville

The patriots already made a deal with the 49ers for Jimmy Garropolo n they make another one on draft night to select Brady sucessor and that is Lamar Jackson. I know, I know it sounds crazy. But let me tell you something, Lamar Jackson can ball, he faced 7 top 10 pass defense during his career at Louisville n Belichick lately has shown to have an affinity for mobile QBs.

10. Raiders: Vita Vea, Defensive Tackle, Washington

Vita is just a monster, I mean this dude will demand a double team almost every single snap. You see this on tape all the time n then you add to that the 40 bench press reps he put up at the combine and you can understand why he is as good as he is.

11. Dolphins: Josh Rosen, Quarterback, UCLA

This is not the QB Adam Gase wanted, but I do believe this will be the one Marino wants.
