Round 1

Picks 1-16
1. Browns: Sam Darnold, Quarterback, USC

Although the Browns could consider drafting the best available player (Saquon Barkley ?) and draft a quarterback a little bit later in the draft, they desperately need to get right at the most important position in football. I think Darnold is the best fit among the QBs in this class

2. Giants: Josh Rosen, Quarterback, UCLA

There are question marks regarding Eli Manning's future, so the Giants grab a quarterback they can move forward with

3. Colts: Saquon Barkley, Running Back, Penn State

The Colts have need at different levels, so a trade down would make sense. After watching running backs like Ezekiel Elliott, Todd Gurley and Leonard Fournette make a big impact and help both offense and defense, I think Barkley would be the most valuable pick.

4. Browns: Minkah Fitzpatrick, Safety, Alabama

Fitzpatrick can help the Browns from day 1 at different positions. He has year in and year out Pro Bowl potential

5. Broncos: Quenton Nelson, Offensive Guard, Notre Dame

Assuming the Broncos get a quarterback in free agency (Kirk Cousins ?), they will need to protect him.

6. Jets: Baker Mayfield, Quarterback, Oklahoma

The Jets clearly need a quearteback, so in this scenario is down to Mayfield and Josh Allen. I'm going with the one who to me is more ready to play.

7. Buccaneers: Bradley Chubb, Defensive End, N.C. State

Chubb is one of the best players in this draft, if not the best. The Buccaneers would gladly take him to upgrade their pass rush

8. Bears: Denzel Ward, Cornerback, Ohio State

Ward adresses a clear need in the seconday for the Bears

9. 49ers: Calvin Ridley, Wide Receiver, Alabama

The 49ers have found their man at the QB spot in Jimmy Garoppolo, now they have to give him the weapons to succeed

10. Raiders: Roquan Smith, Outside Linebacker, Georgia

The Raiders find talent and leadership in a defense that needs a real reload after a disappointing season

11. Dolphins: Josh Allen, Quarterback, Wyoming

It looks like Ryan Tannehill hasn't worked out the way Dolphins fans hoped , so Miami could take a chance on a developmental prospect with big time raw talent in Allen

12. Bengals: Derwin James, Safety, Florida State

The Bengals could also address the offensive line, but with a need at safety James is too talented to pass up.

13. Redskins: Vita Vea, Defensive Tackle, Washington

Obviously Kirk Cousins' future will have a lot to do with this pick, but, since the Redskins finshed dead last in rush defense, they select a player like Vea who can really help the interior of the defensive line

14. Packers: Arden Key, Defensive End, LSU

Key is one of the most talented players in the draft, however some issues in his last year at LSU may cause him to slide. The Packers need talent at different levels on the defensive side of the ball, so they grab the best player available.

15. Cardinals: Mike McGlinchey, Offensive Tackle, Notre Dame

The Cardinals are another team that could very well trade up to get a new signal caller, but with the premier passers off the board I have them going in another direction. Arizona was among the worst ranked teams in terms of rushing (although David Johnson's injury had a lot to do with that) and pass protecting, so a lineman would make sense here

16. Ravens: Courtland Sutton, Wide Receiver, SMU

The Ravens need a reliable target for Joe Flacco, so they nab a big-bodied pass catcher who can make contested catches.
