Round 1

1. Browns: Josh Rosen, Quarterback, UCLA

Watching Rosen vs Darnold; I bet 75% Darnold will go back to school, though I'm including him in this mock. Rosen just seems much further along in how he sees the field, and he handled adversity well which he'd need to do going to the Browns. Darnold's just the guy you don't bet against, which is worth a lot... but right now I see Rosen as better prospect.

2. 49ers: Bradley Chubb, Defensive End, N.C. State

Call me crazy. I think Chubb will be a great pro, and too high for RB unless he's Jim Brown. Finishing out the D line, with Thomas, Armstead, and Buckner... add Chubb? Sheesh. When building a special unit, forging an identity is within your reach... tempting.

3. Giants: Sam Darnold, Quarterback, USC

The Giants, massive underachievers, need to strike at the QB while they have this kind of opportunity. Darnold isn't ready yet... but he has "it." Some guys will just find a way, and he could be one of them. Sits for a year behind Eli.... until Eli goes to Jacksonville and...

4. Colts: Connor Williams, Offensive Tackle, Texas

This is betting he'll return to form after injury here. Was really tempted to put in Arden Key. However- when Luck is the franchise, job #1 is protecting that investment.

5. Broncos: Baker Mayfield, Quarterback, Oklahoma

I know, he's short. I know, system. I think Elway will love the competitive fire and leadership Mayfield will bring. Everything else said- if he's 2 inches taller he's the top pick in the draft.

6. Buccaneers: Arden Key, Defensive End, LSU

The Bucs are 29th in the league for sacks. Key next to McCoy- sounds like fun.

7. Browns: Calvin Ridley, Wide Receiver, Alabama

I'm higher on Ridley than most. I think he's a rich man's Amari Cooper (I know, lazy comparison). Hands, speed, route running... age is the only knock. The Browns are fools if they count on Josh Gordon for anything other than an unexpected bonus.

8. Bengals: Quenton Nelson, Offensive Guard, Notre Dame

Dalton has to be set up for success. Nelson is arguably the best olineman in the draft; having a blue chip talent in front could really help.

9. Chargers: Minkah Fitzpatrick, Safety, Alabama

I think Fitzpatrick will be in top 3 at the end of the day for best players from this draft, though not sure he'll be drafted there. The Bolts replace Weddle with authority.

10. Cardinals: Lamar Jackson, Quarterback, Louisville

I think they would have taken Mahomes last year if he'd made it. They cannot put off taking a QB another year.

11. Bears: Courtland Sutton, Wide Receiver, SMU

They cannot depend on White to stay healthy, which is a shame. Going to get Trubisky; they have to invest there to set him up for success.

12. Jets: Josh Allen, Quarterback, Wyoming

A project, a risk, but one with huge upside. I saw reports that the Jets love Allen. I don't think he's Carson Wentz...but if he sits a year first, he could develop. And McCown is the perfect guy for that.

13. Ravens: Saquon Barkley, Running Back, Penn State

I don't think they can move on from Flacco contract-wise... so they become like the Jags... win with ball control and a great defense.

14. Raiders: Clelin Ferrell, Defensive End, Clemson

The Raiders are last in the league in sacks. They've disappointed this year.. but there is a bright future.

15. Redskins: Derwin James, Safety, Florida State

If James gets back to who he looked like as a freshman, this could be a steal.

16. Dolphins: Austin Bryant, Defensive End, Clemson

A bookend with Charles Harris.
