Round 1

Picks 1-16
1. 49ers: Sam Darnold, Quarterback, USC

The Niners need a QB, and Darnold has and will continue to emerge as the top one. Rosen is doing well, but Darnold is ahead.

2. Browns: Saquon Barkley, Running Back, Penn State

The best player in the draft, IMO. I wonder if the Browns analytics brain trust won't select a RB this high- but you can see how special Barkley is. They double down on Kizer.

3. Jets: Josh Rosen, Quarterback, UCLA

Rosen anecdotes to the NY media? It'll never be boring. He has the moxie to handle the Big Apple, and will be a great fit.

4. Bengals: Mike McGlinchey, Offensive Tackle, Notre Dame

The Bengals losing Whitworth and Zeitler has taken a horrible toll on them. Dalton needs a lot around him to succeed, and while he has weapons, his line isn't close to what it used to be, despite the high OL picks.

5. Bears: Derwin James, Safety, Florida State

I was really tempted to go OL here, but something seems right about James in the back of the Bears defense.

6. Giants: Orlando Brown, Offensive Tackle, Oklahoma

Now, if there ever were an obvious OL pick... Flowers has to be moved. This pick has an exponential effect on the Giants.

7. Chargers: Connor Williams, Offensive Tackle, Texas

Even though Williams is hurt, he goes high. With Gordon, Williams, Allen and Henry- that is a lot of weapons. Rivers needs more time to get them there, and they can move last year's OL selections around the line to get the best 5 on the field.

8. Browns: Minkah Fitzpatrick, Cornerback, Alabama

from Texans

This seems like a Gregg Williams pick to me. Versatile and athletic. The Browns aren't winning yet... but more talent is on the field.

9. Saints: Arden Key, Defensive End, LSU

Jordan, Rankins, Lattimore- add Key, makes them all better.

10. Colts: Christian Wilkins, Defensive Tackle, Clemson

The Colts need talent everywhere- and take the best player available. Was tempted to go OL here, but could get that later in the draft to fit around Castanzo and Kelly.

11. Rams: Jaire Alexander, Cornerback, Louisville

Gotta think Trumaine Johnson will be gone after this year. Plus, the Rams D just gave up 41 to the 49ers. Esh.

12. Dolphins: Harold Landry, Defensive End, Boston College

Wake is getting older, and Landry next to Suh will be fun. Landry I think will be one of the better picks in the draft.

13. Cardinals: Lamar Jackson, Quarterback, Louisville

I thought a QB selection would happen last year. They have to prepare soon for Palmer's retirement or will find themselves in trouble.

14. Jaguars: Mason Rudolph, Quarterback, Oklahoma State

Speaking of QB's- that is what the Jags need. That D has really emerged, and they have RB, WR... improve the QB position, and you have a good team on your hands.

15. Ravens: Da'Shawn Hand, Defensive End, Alabama

Maybe it's silly that I look at the highest rated Alabama defensive player left on the board. Maybe it's accurate.

16. Redskins: Tarvarus McFadden, Cornerback, Florida State

across from Norman, this is a home run pick. Two outstanding CBs.
