The NBA draft is different then the NFL. A lot of the NBA is about potential and not established history. I still think the Best Player Available philosophy is better but less important than NFL.

Thomas is a great PG but they could definitely use a tall PG off the bench, plus Fultz is considered by many to be the BPA. The last time I remember the #1 team in the East having a high draft pick (Detroit) they missed it. If the Celtics can land an all star they can set themselves up to be good for a long time.

Ball is a tall playmaking PG. Him and Russell should be able to play in the same backcourt as Russell can play off the ball. This will give the Lakers a great young core to contend with.

Can Philly actually become relevant again? They have taken a lot of big man and they really need some guards. Fox is a young PG that can shoot and create room for the others.

The Suns have a solid backcourt so they go with Jackson to fill the SF position.

If Rudy Gay leaves this has to be the selection, right? Tatum can start right away on the wing.

This is where it gets interesting because the Magic have no real stars and just need to take the BPA. This is where my comments in the opening play a role. Isaac isn't necessarily the best play right now but he could be the in 5 years.

The Timberwolves are solid at 4 out of 5 positions. They could really use a PF to play next to Anthony-Towns who had a dominate year. Markkanen has a solid inside/outside game similar to Dirk so he makes a lot of since.

The Knicks need a long term PG option as Rose just doesn't have what he used to.

The Mavs need a big man or a young PG. Collins is loaded with potential.

The Kings have a great chance to actually turn things around. With Collison and Lawson both being Free Agents they need a young PG.

The Hornets are set at PG & SG, they need help in the frontcourt. Their centers don't really scare anyone, he is a big man to come of the bench and hopefully start in a couple years.

Caldwell-Pope is a restricted FA and they need a big time scorer as no one averaged more than 16 ppg. Monk is a big time scorer that can get buckets from deep or driving.
Pistons's Needs via ESPN's RPM
Gallinari is FA and will command a big contract. Also Plumlee is a restricted FA. I am guessing that the Nuggets do everything to keep Gallinari and draft a young big man.

SG Dion Waiters is a FA, they could also use a shooting PF next to Whiteside. The pick for me is SG/SF Terrence Ferguson or PF TJ Leaf. Ferguson is higher on the board.

They really need a big man. They take Bam as a more traditional big man instead of Leaf who is an inside/outside threat. The Blazers are stacked on the perimeter.
