2017 NFL Mock Draft by dharan77 - 4.25

Build through the trenches. Give a QB a chance to succeed. Use a ball control offense to help the defense rest. Get leaders in your front 7 to set the tone for the team. Don't draft to seel jerseys, draft like you are playing the football version of "Age of Empires". #Build a dynsasty. Enjoy the ride.

Round 1

1. Browns: Mitch Trubisky, Quarterback, North Carolina

Ownership trumps the coach everyday. However, all isn't lost Garret is still on the board and the Browns have enough firepower to make the move. Please do not think for a moment that Trubisky will be available at #12.

2. Browns: Myles Garrett, Defensive End, Texas A&M

MG may be worth the bounty of pics Browns gave to SF to move up from #12.

3. Bears: Deshaun Watson, Quarterback, Clemson

The Bears believe they are closer to contention than most fans believe. Thus they do not think they can legfitimately draft Sam Darnold in 2018. In fact, the bears do not think they will be bad enough--- for some time--- to draft a QB again with the leadership, skills and winning pedigree of Watson.

4. Jaguars: Leonard Fournette, Running Back, LSU

Jaguars could be a team on the rise-- depending on whether Bortles is ready to redefine himself as a QB and as a leader. I am not a Jags fan, but I am excited about this pick.

5. Titans: Jamal Adams, Strong Safety, LSU

This pick could be a wildcard. I am taking Adams, though Titans may prefer Allen.

6. Jets: O.J. Howard, Tight End, Alabama

The Jets elected not to trade up when Watson was selected at #3. They will do everything to trade down, but cannot find a partner. The choice was between Howard and Allen, and they decided not to torture jets fans with yet another lineman. OJ Howard could be a generational tight end. Safe pick and a good one.

7. Chargers: Marshon Lattimore, Cornerback, Ohio State

The first ever pick for the Los Angeles Chargers is ML. Yes, they were tempted to take a QB here, but they will attempt to move back into the first round and hope one of the mid-second tear QBs is available to groom behind Philip Rivers.

8. Panthers: Christian McCaffrey, Running Back, Stanford

The Panthers may be one of the few teams that have McCaffrey rated ahead of Fournette. They raced to the podium with their top rated pick in the 2017 draft.

9. Bengals: Jonathan Allen, Defensive Tackle, Alabama

This was supposed to be a pick of the better MLB, either Reddick or Foster, but Allen was in a freefall and the Bengals could not hold off on pulling the trigger. (good thing for them). Welcome to the jungle big guy.

10. Bills: Mike Williams, Wide Receiver, Clemson

The Bills listened to the experts and thought the top 2 Qbs were available. Whoops. Lucky for them, Mike Williams was a 1b to Watson's 1A ranking.

11. Saints: Solomon Thomas, Defensive End, Stanford

The Saints had their eyes on Mahomes, however this is too early to draft Drew Brees replacement-- and they will also try to move back into the first round to get their QB of the future. ST is too good to sit on the board any longer. Saints with a coup.

12. 49ers: Pat Mahomes, Quarterback, Texas Tech

This pick will not surprise many people (other than perhaps the Saints who just lost their chance to get Mahomes, but who can still be placated with Kizer or Webb. If either are their by the time they can get back on the clock)

13. Cardinals: DeShone Kizer, Quarterback, Notre Dame

This pick is based on who I think the Cardinals will take, not who they should take. Why? Because they have Kizer (immature comments and all perhaps) ranked slightly higher than Webb or Peters-- and they didn't have enough ammunition or hopes to move back into the first in time to get either.

14. Eagles: Derek Barnett, Defensive End, Tennessee

MH was on the board. Too easy. Yes, some Eagle fans hoped for Ross, but not with this guy available.

15. Colts: Reuben Foster, Inside Linebacker, Alabama

Colts pass on Dalvin Cook and take Barnett. DB is somewhat of an overacheiver, but what's not to like about that? He will give effort on every play and make his teammates better from his presence.

16. Ravens: Dalvin Cook, Running Back, Florida State

Surprise? The call heard from outer space. RF moves in to provide the leadership (which he is well suited for) to a team that has not replaced their HOF LB Ray Lewis.
