Chet Gresham's Week 3 Fantasy Football FLEX Rankings -Traditional

by Chet Gresham - on Twitter

To differentiate between all the "Start 'Ems" on Walt's Fantasy Football Start Em, Sit Em page, you can check out the Weekly Fantasy Football Rankings, so you can figure out whom to start between Player X and Player Y.

Below are my fantasy FLEX rankings and a set of links for my positional Weekly NFL Fantasy Football Rankings. Keep in mind that this list is for this week only; not the entire rest of the season. If you don't like my rankings, check out Walter's fantasy football rankings.

The rankings are based on a Traditional scoring system. Each player has's projected stats and standard scoring points.

Fantasy Football Weekly Rankings - PPR: RB | WR | TE | FLEX

But who do I start...

Updated - Follow @ChetGresham for updates.
  1. Todd Gurley, RB, Rams (vs. Chargers)
The Chargers' run defense has allowed just 3.9 yards per carry for 66.5 yards, but have given up good numbers in the receiving game with five receptions for 66.5 yards and a touchdown per game. Gurley is your No. 1 fantasy running back until further notice no matter, but the Chargers are better against wide receivers than running backs.

  2. Alvin Kamara, RB, Saints (at Falcons)
Kamara will likely have trouble on the ground again this week, but he is set up for a big receiving day with the Falcons short on defenders who cover running backs, and it showed last week when Christian McCaffrey had 14 receptions against them.

  3. Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Cowboys (at Seahawks)
The Seahawks' run defense has been decent, allowing just 3.78 yards per attempt, but on the whole, they've allowed the fifth-most rushing attempts and the 12th-most total yards. Elliott should get his work in with the Dallas defense playing well of late and Seattle's offensive line not.

  4. Antonio Brown, WR, Steelers (at Buccaneers)
As long as he plays, Brown could go for 300 yards in what would be an emotionally charged game for him and the Steelers.

  5. James Conner, RB, Steelers (at Buccaneers)
Tampa Bay has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to running backs, with the majority of those fantasy points coming through the air. Conner doesn't see the massive targets that Le'Veon Bell saw in the past, but Conner is still a strong receiver and has plenty of upside as a dual-threat player in what could be another high-scoring affair.

  6. Melvin Gordon, RB, Chargers (at Rams)
The Rams have allowed the eighth-fewest total yards and the 11th-fewest fantasy points to running backs so far. Gordon has been able to put up good numbers against about any team with his workload, especially through the air, but this will be a tough matchup.

  7. Saquon Barkley, RB, Giants (at Texans)
The Texans' run defense has allowed just 3.47 yards per carry, but they've also seen the second-most rushing attempts in the league due to their offense not clicking. Barkley showed last week that he'll likely be a PPR assett even when he doesn't get into the end zone, but in standard, he's going to need his offensive line to open up some lanes.

  8. Leonard Fournette, RB, Jaguars (vs. Titans)
If he's a full-go, he's going to get a good workload in a game in which the Jaguars should lead.

  9. Kareem Hunt, RB, Chiefs (vs. 49ers)
I'd like to see Hunt's usage in the receiving game pushed up a bit, but he will get his shot sooner than later, as Mahomes can't be the impetus for every single touchdown scored by Kansas City.

  10. Michael Thomas, WR, Saints (at Falcons)
Thomas has played well against Atlanta in his short career, with 31 receptions on 44 targets for 410 yards and three touchdowns in his last two seasons. He's been even better this year, and it doesn't look like anyone can stop him.

  11. Julio Jones, WR, Falcons (vs. Saints)
Jones played well against New Orleans last season, averaging 123.5 yards per game. He's coming off a down week and should have a nice bounceback performance.

  12. DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Texans (vs. Giants)
It was good to see DeShaun Watson connect with Hopkins last week for a big game despite losing to the Titans. I expect Hopkins will be in line for another strong game at home against the Giants.

  13. A.J. Green, WR, Bengals (at Panthers)
Green looked amazing last week against Baltimore's good pass defense. This week, he'll have a better matchup in Carolina.

  14. Odell Beckham Jr., WR, Giants (at Texans)
The Giants' offensive line is a concern for Beckham, but he's too good to keep down for long and the Texans don't have anyone who can hang with him.

  15. Christian McCaffrey, RB, Panthers (vs. Bengals)
The Bengals have held opposing running backs to 3.08 yards per carry and 55.5 rushing yards, which puts them only behind the Eagles in both categories, but they have given up good yardage through the air with the fifth-most yards and sixth-most receptions. I expect McCaffrey to get his through the air once again.

  16. Jordan Howard, RB, Bears (at Cardinals)
Arizona and its lack of any kind of offense should make for a good game script for Howard to see plenty of work. The Cardinals have now allowed 210 total yards per game to running backs and a lofty 38 fantasy points per game to the position.

  17. Matt Breida, RB, 49ers (at Chiefs)
This game has a bunch of scoring built in, and there's a chance Alfred Morris won't see much work if Kansas City can get an early lead, which would push Breida into a nice workload against a poor defense.

  18. David Johnson, RB, Cardinals (vs. Bears)
It appears the Cardinals are going to at least try to give Johnson more work in the passing game by lining him up as a receiver at points. This offense, however, has looked awful and will now face a Bears defense that is playing very well.

  19. Corey Clement, RB, Eagles (vs. Colts)
If Ajayi can't go this week, Clement makes for a great play.

  20. Giovani Bernard, RB, Bengals (at Panthers)
Bernard will be the every-down back this week and gets a Carolina defense that has allowed 5.54 yards per carry and 113.5 rushing yards per game to running backs.

  21. Tyreek Hill, WR, Chiefs (vs. 49ers)
Hill didn't even have a target in the first half last week, but still came out of the game with a nice fantasy day. The 49ers' pass defense is middling right now, and Hill and Mahomes are untouchable right now.

  22. Latavius Murray, RB, Vikings (vs. Bills)
If Cook can't go, Murray should see a big workload in a game the Vikings should lead throughout.

  23. Mike Evans, WR, Buccaneers (vs. Steelers)
Evans has looked great so far, and Joe Haden is hurting. Even if Haden can go, I like Evans in that matchup, but if he can't, watch out.

  24. Adam Thielen, WR, Vikings (vs. Bills)
Thielen should draw coverage from Rafael Bush, who is a weak link in a Buffalo pass defense that has been getting smoked as it is.

  25. T.Y. Hilton, WR, Colts (at Eagles)
Hilton should have the easiest matchup against Jalen Mills out of the slot, so I expect a strong outing from Hilton.

  26. Kenyan Drake, RB, Dolphins (vs. Raiders)
Oakland has allowed two 100-yard rushers, with Todd Gurley and Phillip Lindsay hitting that mark, and only Detroit has allowed more rushing yards to running backs this season. Drake still will lose carries to Frank Gore, but his potential is high in this matchup.

  27. Keenan Allen, WR, Chargers (at Rams)
It won't be an easy matchup for Allen, but he should have better luck in the slot than receivers taking on the Rams on the outside.

  28. Tevin Coleman, RB, Falcons (vs. Saints)
The Saints have allowed the fewest total yards to running backs with just 76 per game and have the fourth-best yards-per-carry mark at just 3.16.

  29. Lamar Miller, RB, Texans (vs. Giants)

  30. Stefon Diggs, WR, Vikings (vs. Bills)

  31. Davante Adams, WR, Packers (at Redskins)

  32. JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, Steelers (at Buccaneers)
