2012 Fantasy Football: Preseason Fantasy Stock - Week 4

With preseason underway, there will be updates daily to this 2012 Fantasy Football Preseason Stock page. Games will be added as I watch them. Adjustments will be made on my 2012 Fantasy Football Rankings accordingly. Follow me @walterfootball for updates.

2012 Fantasy Football Preseason Stock - Week 4

Chargers at 49ers

Philip Rivers, QB, Chargers
Philip Rivers went 8-of-10 for 89 yards and an interception in the preseason finale against San Francisco's reserves. The pick was quite puzzling. He made a horrible decision by trying to fit the ball into Malcom Floyd and was consequently picked off by a backup safety. Rivers is going to throw a ton of interceptions this year. Downgrade him if your league subtracts two points for picks.

Ravens at Rams

Daryl Richardson, RB, Rams
If you're looking for a handcuff for Steven Jackson, you'll want Daryl Richardson instead of Isaiah Pead. Richardson played ahead of Pead in the preseason finale, prompting one of the Ram announcers to declare, "You talk about Daryl Richardson taking carries away from Isaiah Pead... Richardson will be on the field regardless of Pead." It's true. Not only has Richardson been the more impressive runner; he also hasn't had the fumbling and blocking issues that Pead has been guilty of.

Bills at Lions

Mikel Leshoure, RB, Lions
The big news for Detroit is that Mikel Leshoure started and ran really well in the preseason finale. He gained 43 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries to go along with a 33-yard reception. He made multiple defenders miss throughout the evening. One of the Detroit broadcasters even commented, "I didn't know Leshoure had this type of quickness." Leshoure is suspended for the first two weeks of the season, but he's a mega sleeper - the No. 1 guy on my 20 Fantasy Football Sleepers of 2012 - usually available in Round 10 or later. He's the favorite to start beginning in October.

Falcons at Jaguars

Justin Blackmon, WR, Jaguars
Justin Blackmon led the Jaguars with six targets against Atlanta's backups. Blackmon won't find the end zone very much this year, but it appears as though he'll be useful in a PPR league. Blaine Gabbert is too craven to throw the ball downfield, so he's going to keep settling for short junk to his rookie wideout.

For more on this game, go to the 2012 NFL Preseason Fantasy Football Notes.

Buccaneers at Redskins

Alfred Morris, RB, Redskins
Mike Shanahan held his starters out against the Buccaneers. No Robert Griffin, no Pierre Garcon, no Fred Davis. And no Tim Hightower or Alfred Morris. This tells me that Shanahan's top two backs, at least in September, figure to be Morris getting the early work and Hightower handling third-down duties. Of course, this is a total guess. No one knows what Shanahan is going to do. I don't even think he knows. But Morris is the one Redskin I would take in Round 11 or later.

nobody cares about how well you drafted in a ten man league, which are for women, amateurs, and little girls, so stop gloating about every single fantasy team you've ever drafted please and thanks.

@erik

I know it looks like it couldn't have happened but I got McCoy with the 1.2 pick, Jones at 2.9, Gronk at 3.2, Nicks at 4.9, Romo at 5.2, Richardson at 6.9, Bryant at 7.2, Harvin at 8.9, Doug Martin at 9.2, Redman at 10.9, Ridley at 11.2, Floyd at 12.9, Texans at 13.2, Fitzpatrick at 14.9, and Crosby at 15.2! Then someone dropped Matt Ryan so I dropped Fitzpatrick and picked Ryan up!!! The guys in my draft were horrible. Someone took the 49ers DST in the 3rd round!

This dude told me to get a grip..LOL I'm sorry, i just find it funny is all..lol All i said is i find it a bit early to say Martins breakout yr is gonna have to wait unless blounts injured..

Whoa, i'm just losing control!!!(sarcasm)..lol I better get a grip!

Walts not 4yrs old, and i gurantee u he would come right back with his reasoning why he feels that way or he'd say "u may be right".. One thing i know for sure is he would not think someone needs to get a grip becuase they questioned one comment out of about 50 preseason comments..lol

Keep doing what ur doing walt! I love ur site!

uhh, i love walts insight u freaking moron.. U can certainly give insight without making decisons for a full season based on 1week of 2or3 carries in the first preseason game..

As i said and i'll stick 2, its way to early to say "it looks like martins breakout yr is gonna have to wait, barring a Blount injury".. LOL

Thats pretty much common sense.. This week Blount could look terrible and Martin could look sensational, and with more carries, as the carries go up and up as preseason goes on.. Its impossible to know if a guys whole season has been decided based on a couple carries in the 1st preseason game..

Again, i love walts site and have been coming here daily for 5yrs, and i'm positve walt has no problem what so ever with a little disagreement, as opposed to nothing but licking of his balls from people like u.. He knows hes wrong sometimes, and has no problem with someone saying they think he jumped the gun a bit on something..

Great comment Nycsportzfan. I'm sure everyone here would love to sign on Monday and read about how it's week 1 of pre-season so there's no insights to report. Get a grip man.

Keep up the solid updating Walt, every update helps us make better decisions than the chuuuumpps with the fantasy magazines at the draft!

Check out 3 fantasy teams from NFL.com, 1 auction, 2 re-draft. Only one were other people actually present for.

Team 1:
QB: Matt Schaub
QB: Jay Cutler
RB: LeSean McCoy
RB: Matt Forte
RB: Isaac Redman
RB: Trent Richardson
RB: Doug Martin
WR: Julio Jones
WR: Hakeem Nicks
WR: Steve Johnson
WR: Antonio Brown
WR: Eric Decker
TE: Brandon Pettigrew
K: Jason Hanson
DEF: Texans

This one is probably my favorite team due to the ridiculous RB depth. My bench is considerably better than what Walter ends up with most of the time to start. My WR core is OK, but I think they have a lot of upside. I also believe that Steve Johnson is underrated and a sleeper. Antonio Brown should be good, and I like Decker over Thomas. The lack of QB's is shared with most of the teams I draft because I don't see the value in a first round QB. Upside can be attained anywhere.

Team 2:
QB: Matt Ryan
QB: Jay Cutler
RB: Chris Johnson
RB: Doug Martin
RB: Isaac Redman
RB: Mark Ingram
RB: Ben Tate
WR: Larry Fitzgerald
WR: Brandon Marshall
WR: Hakeem Nicks
WR: Steve Johnson
WR: Eric Decker
TE: Brandon Pettigrew
K: Alex Henery
DEF: Bills

This is probably my most balanced team, with players I like everywhere. I am looking for an upgrade over Ben Tate, but that is the only weakness I can discern on this team. Chris Johnson has a lot of upside, but the rest of my RB's are more questions than answers.

Team 3(Auction):
QB: Drew Brees
QB: Robert Griffin III
QB: Matt Schaub
RB: Isaac Redman
RB: Doug Martin
RB: Ben Tate
RB: Pierre Thomas
WR: Julio Jones
WR: A.J. Green
WR: Hakeem Nicks
WR: Greg Little
WR: Denarius Moore
TE: Rob Gronkowski
K: Alex Henery
DEF: Bills

This is my least favorite team due to the complete lack of RB depth. I have 3 QB's because I wasn't there for the first part of the draft, just long enough to end up with Brees for $40. I am trying to trade Brees for Chris Johnson. RG3 and Schaub were $4 a piece, so I think I will be getting a steal if I can successfully start them. The rest of the team is pretty strong though, so I am completely satisfied with the team if I can get CJ2J.

I love Walts site, but lets be real walt, ur knocking dudes up and down ur rankings alittle to much consdiering were talking about week 1 of the preseason.. Kinda ridiculous that ur all ready saying Doug Martins breakout yr is gonna have to wait because of blount.. Dude it was one preseason game where neither played a full game.. Lets get real, 1week of preseason is enough to get a slight but very small idea, and nothing more..
