2010 Fantasy Football Training Camp Stock – Week of Aug. 23
AUG. 27
Leon Washington, RB, Seahawks 
Leon Washington has been working with the first team in practice this week. Washington, now healthy, looked like the best running back on the field for Seattle in their second preseason game. The former Jet is a great late-round sleeper.
AUG. 26
Michael Bush, RB, Raiders Surprise, surprise. Darren McFadden is still having problems with his hamstring and is unlikely to play against the 49ers. This gives Michael Bush yet another opportunity to keep impressing the coaching staff. I’m liking Bush more and more each week.
Brandon Lloyd, WR, Broncos Demaryius Thomas is out indefinitely, meaning Brandon Lloyd will see more action during the first half of the year. Lloyd has actually been solid this preseason and is worth a late-round flier, though I’d much rather have Jabar Gaffney and Eddie Royal.
Sidney Rice, WR, Vikings 
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that Sidney Rice will be on crutches for eight weeks in the wake of his hip surgery. This is discouraging for anyone who hoped Rice would be ready prior to November. His likely return will be around Thanksgiving, and even then he might not be the same guy who dominated in 2009.
Demaryius Thomas, WR, Broncos Demaryius Thomas is snake-bitten. He has re-injured his ankle. It was first feared that he suffered a stress fracture, but the MRI came back negative. Unfortunately, Broncos TV announcer Vic Lombardi is reporting that a screw in Thomas’ ankle may have come loose, which would mean more surgery. Thomas is nearly undraftable at this point.
AUG. 25
Bernard Berrian, WR, Vikings With Sidney Rice out until the middle of November, Bernard Berrian will be pushed into the starting lineup. I have the feeling though that Berrian will be overdrafted; he’s not a particularly good receiver.
Brett Favre, QB, Vikings Brett Favre has just lost his No. 1 receiver until Week 9-10 at the very earliest. With Rice’s hip and Percy Harvin’s migraine issues, Favre will have major problems matching last year’s numbers.
Percy Harvin, WR, Vikings Sidney Rice will be out until at least Week 9-10, which means that Percy Harvin will be Brett Favre’s No. 1 receiving option for most of the year. Still though, Harvin has his own issues with his migraines, so don’t reach for him.
Sidney Rice, WR, Vikings Sidney Rice has in fact gone through hip surgery and will be out for half the year. This is obviously a major blow to anyone who drafted him, as Rice is now a Round 11-14 flier whom some might stash on the bench for a playoff run. Keep in mind though that even if Rice comes back in Week 9 or 10, he might not be the same dominant receiver he was in 2009.
Visanthe Shiancoe, TE, Vikings Aside from Bernard Berrian, Visanthe Shiancoe will benefit most from Sidney Rice’s hip surgery. Shiancoe will receive more end-zone targets than anticipated. He’s an awesome tight end to own in touchdown leagues.
Derrick Ward, RB, Buccaneers Raheem Morris isn’t pleased with Derrick Ward’s 1.8 yards-per-carry average this preseason. He has demoted Derrick Ward to the No. 3 running back behind second-year runner Kareem Huggins.
AUG. 24
Sidney Rice, WR, Vikings The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that Sidney Rice could be out for half the year because he needs hip surgery. I’m not going to knock him down much in my rankings until we know for the sure; just keep this in mind if you plan on drafting him.
Chaz Schilens, WR, Raiders Tom Cable told the media that Chaz Schilens may need knee surgery. The severity of the surgery is unknown, but you don’t want any part of Schilens right now.
