Fantasy Football - Sample Draft
Rounds 7-18

Rounds 1-6 | Rounds 7-18

JunkyardJake.com recently organized a fantasy football league for some of the football Web sites across the internet. Twelve of the following sites were chosen to compete in the Bum Phillips Texas Barbecue Fantasy Expert Challenge:

The draft was 18 rounds, and the order is the one I displayed above. Here's how the draft went, along with comments from each site (if available). Keep in mind that all touchdowns are worth six points, and receptions do not count in this league.

Round 7
  1. MonsterDraft.com selects Deion Branch, WR, Seahawks
    No comment available.

  2. FantasySportsCentral.com selects Jeremy Shockey, TE, Giants
Bulger, Jackson, McAllister, Holt, Wayne, Coles, Shockey. Ship it.

  3. FantasyFootballXtreme.com selects Donte' Stallworth, WR, Patriots
Happy to have another quality wide receiver here. I like his chances with all of the attention Moss will draw.

  4. RotoTimes.com selects Tatum Bell, RB, Lions
    No comment available.

  5. FantasyIndex.com selects Tony Gonzalez, TE, Chiefs
Not sure I've ever had Gonzo on a team before, but that's because he generally hasn't been available to me in the 7th round. KC should be passing a lot when LJ either holds out or signs a big contract and gets hurt. Pretty clear I'm going to be losing the wide receiver battle a lot of weeks, so I need to hope for an edge at other positions.

  6. RotoWorld.com selects Jerricho Cotchery, WR, Jets
    No comment available.

  7. SportsGrumblings.com selects Joe Horn, WR, Falcons
    No comment available.

  8. FFJungle.com selects Lamont Jordan, RB, Raiders
Hoping for a return to his 2005 form, where he produced 1,500+ yards and 13 scores. With Dominic Rhodes out for the first four games, Jordan should have the inside track on that starting spot for what it is worth. I'm just hoping Jordan will still be productive by the time I need him for the byes. His upside makes him worth a pick in the 7th round.

  9. FantasyFootballWhiz.com selects Todd Heap, TE, Ravens
This will finish off my starting skill position players as finding Todd Heap on my roster is a nice addition, as he is to get more looks his way during the season per the talk out of Ravens minicamps. The guy just finds ways to make the most out of everytime that he gets the ball. Not to mention, that it does not hurt having a guy that puts up 5+ touchdowns and 700+ yards receiving over the last two seasons.

  10. FFToolbox.com selects Kellen Winslow Jr., TE, Browns
Winslow had 89 catches last season, and his paltry TD total (3 in 2006) should improve with Brady Quinn now at the helm in Cleveland.

  11. WalterFootball.com selects Chris Cooley, TE, Redskins
Chris Cooley looked like he had some sort of rapport with Jason Campbell at the end of the year. Here's to hoping that continues.

  12. JunkyardJake.com selects Santonio Holmes, WR, Steelers
While he's no sure thing, I like the way he picked up the game quickly as a rookie. The Steelers should throw more this year under Arians, so Holmes could make a strong #3 receiver.

Round 8
  1. JunkyardJake.com selects Alge Crumpler, TE, Falcons
Crumpler seems to be the safe choice in this spot, although he is not w/o risk given his offseason knee surgery, QB problems and the Atlanta coaching change. Good thing noone else on the Falcons knows how to catch passes.

  2. WalterFootball.com selects Patriots Defense
The Patriots collected numerous sacks, INTs, FRs and TDs last year, and that was without Adalius Thomas.

  3. FFToolbox.com selects Vincent Jackson, WR, Chargers
I had planned on taking the Patriots defense here, but with them gone my choice is Jackson. Jackson had 6 touchdowns last season, but only 27 catches for 453 yards in 2006. Jackson's unique combination of size, and speed, plus the Chargers other weapons (LT and Gates) should leave him single covered and a prime target for Rivers in the red-zone. A prime sleeper candidate Jackson is an excellent #3 WR rounding out my starting position players.

  4. FantasyFootballWhiz.com selects Kevin Jones, RB, Lions
I have Kevin Jones ranked as the 22nd best running back on the board and getting him at the top of the 8th is a blessing, especially with the way that Martz utilizes the running back. Jones proved to be a solid receiver out of the backfield. My concern is his being able to stay healthy, but I will live with that being he is my 3RB in a league that starts two.

  5. FFJungle.com selects Terry Glenn, WR, Cowboys
Although Glenn's better days are in the rear-view, I think he still has enough game left to produce adequate numbers as a number three receiver. As long as he stays healthy, he should produce 6-8 scores this season and approach the 1,000 yard mark for the third year in a row. The bonus is that I have paired him up with Tony Romo--each catch Glenn makes (assuming it is for positive yardage) will add points for Romo, too.

  6. SportsGrumblings.com selects Derrick Mason, WR, Ravens
    No comment available.

  7. RotoWorld.com selects LenDale "16 Cheeseburger" White, RB, Titans
    No comment available.

  8. FantasyIndex.com selects Greg Jennings, WR, Packers
    No comment available.

  9. RotoTimes.com selects Fred Taylor, RB, Jaguars
    No comment available.

  10. FantasyFootballXtreme.com selects Brandon Jackson, RB, Packers
    No comment available.

  11. FantasySportsCentral.com selects Chargers Defense
    No comment available.

  12. MonsterDraft.com selects Bernard Berrian, WR, Bears
    No comment available.

Round 9
  1. MonsterDraft.com selects Vernand Morency, RB, Packers
    No comment available.

  2. FantasySportsCentral.com selects Warrick Dunn, RB, Falcons
    No comment available.

  3. FantasyFootballXtreme.com selects Jason Witten, TE, Cowboys
    No comment available.

  4. RotoTimes.com selects L.J. Smith, TE, Eagles
    No comment available.

  5. FantasyIndex.com selects Chester Taylor, RB, Vikings
    No comment available.

  6. RotoWorld.com selects Philip Rivers, QB, Chargers
    No comment available.

  7. SportsGrumblings.com selects Michael Bush, RB, Raiders
    No comment available.

  8. FFJungle.com selects Ben Watson, TE, Patriots
Watson plays in what should be a high-powered New England offense. That should be good for 600 or so yards and a few touchdowns. I just hope he isn't the forgotten man now that Tom Brady has all of these new weapons.

  9. FantasyFootballWhiz.com selects Ladell Betts, RB, Redskins
This may be a bit early for Betts, but having selected Portis in the first round...instead of Westbrook...Duh!!!...this is a good sound decision to secure the handcuff to the guy. Betts is no slouch and Gibbs did state that he would utilize Betts often during the season. However, the main reason is to ensure that I have the buddy of oft-injured Portis.

  10. FFToolbox.com selects Jay Cutler, QB, Broncos
While I have Peyton Manning, Cutler is excellent insurance in case anything happens to him. Cutler was very impressive last season throwing 2 touchdowns in 4 of 5 starts, and was completing 60% of his passes. With the addition of Travis Henry, Daniel Graham, and Brandon Stokley, Denvers offense will be very effective in 2007. Jay Cutler is one of my favorite sleeper picks, and I am very pleased to find him available at the end of the 9th round. Expecting at least 3,000 yards and 20 TD's from Cutler, making him excellent trade bait as well.

  11. WalterFootball.com selects Matt Leinart, QB, Cardinals
Taking my starting QB in Round 9, but I think he's gonna put up big stats in Arizona. He threw for 400+ yards late in the year vs. Minnesota.

Walt's Note: Last person to take a quarterback! Why'd I wait this long? Everyone but Roto World grabbed their starters early and I knew no one was going to take a backup prior to Round 10. There was no need to draft a signal caller until now.

  12. JunkyardJake.com selects D.J. Hackett, WR, Seahawks
Hackett looked pretty good when given the chance to start last year. He may be a pleasant surprise now that Jackson has moved on to SF.

Round 10
  1. JunkyardJake.com selects Kevin Curtis, WR, Eagles
Curtis takes the place of Stallworth as the Eagles deep threat. Hopefully he doesn't take the place of Stallworth as the guy on the injury report 50% of the year.

  2. WalterFootball.com selects Isaac Bruce, WR, Rams
Should be able to use the underrated Isaac Bruce as a spot starter vs. weak secondaries.

Walt's Note: I think Isaac Bruce is a heck of a No. 4 receiver. I'm happy I was able to get him.

  3. FFToolbox.com selects Mike Furrey, WR, Lions
    No comment available.

  4. FantasyFootballWhiz.com selects Jerry Porter, WR, Raiders
With Randy Moss off to the New England Patriots, Jerry Porter gets the opportunity to prove that Art Shell is a complete idiot when it comes to coaching a team...of course, we already know that. He is a year removed from putting up back-to-back 900+ yard seasons and 13 total touchdowns. He finally has a quarterback that will take advantage of his speed and will love to keep him a happy camper.

  5. FFJungle.com selects Eli Manning, QB, Giants
Hopefully, Eli will blossom this season, but if not, he should be a solid bye-week replacement and injury insurance for Romo.

  6. SportsGrumblings.com selects Reggie Williams, WR, Jaguars
    No comment available.

  7. RotoWorld.com selects Mike Bell, RB, Broncos
    No comment available.

  8. FantasyIndex.com selects Ronald Curry, WR, Raiders
Somebody has to catch passes for this team, and I give Curry at least a 50-50 shot of being the No. 1 guy. He finished very strong a year ago; hopefully it will carry over to 2007.

  9. RotoTimes.com selects Steelers Defense
    No comment available.

  10. FantasyFootballXtreme.com selects Brandon Marshall, WR, Broncos
We were really hoping Colston would fall, but we just can't pass up this kind of value here with Caddy. Yea, he isn't the best #2, but he is certainly a great 3rd RB to slap next to Tomlinson and Thomas Jones.

  11. FantasySportsCentral.com selects Chris Brown, RB, Titans
    No comment available.

  12. MonsterDraft.com selects Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Steelers
    No comment available.

Round 11
  1. MonsterDraft.com selects Reuben Droughns, RB, Giants
    No comment available.

  2. FantasySportsCentral.com selects Brandon Jones, WR, Titans
    No comment available.

  3. FantasyFootballXtreme.com selects Devery Henderson, WR, Saints
    No comment available.

  4. RotoTimes.com selects Drew Bennett, WR, Rams
    No comment available.

  5. FantasyIndex.com selects Brett Favre, QB, Packers
    No comment available.

  6. RotoWorld.com selects Nate Kaeding, K, Chargers
    No comment available.

  7. SportsGrumblings.com selects Bobby Wade, WR, Titans
    No comment available.

  8. FFJungle.com selects Troy Williamson, WR, Vikings
This is the one guy left on the board that I had pegged to fill the fourth receiver spot on my team. I better grab him now before he is gone, too. If his eyesight is improved and Tavaris Jackson can get him the ball, he may be the perfect bye-week replacement.

  9. FantasyFootballWhiz.com selects Alex Smith, QB, 49ers
I love what is going to happen for this young kid. He has the tools to be one of the most elite quarterbacks in the league. He will be supported by one of the best young running backs in the league with Frank Gore. The team was nice enough to go out and bring in some solid wide receivers, like Darrell Jackson, to utilize and let us not forget about Vernon Davis. I can easily see him hitting 3500+ passing yards and 20+ touchdowns. He may even get a rushing TD or two.

  10. FFToolbox.com selects Broncos Defense
Not a big fan of taking a defense this early, but with Champ Bailey and Dre' Bly in the secondary the Bronco's should generate plenty of turnovers. Mike Shannahan has also placed an emphasis on improving the pass rush as well with the addition of 1st round pick DE Jarvis Moss of Florida. I am a bit concerned by the release of MLB Al Wilson, but confident D.J. Williams will step up in his place.

  11. WalterFootball.com selects Michael Bennett, RB, Chiefs
I have no doubt in my mind that Larry Johnson's getting hurt this year. When he does, I want his backup.

Walt's Note: I made this pick a few days before it became known that Priest Holmes is coming back. Argh.

  12. JunkyardJake.com selects Cowboys Defense
Should be more aggressive under Wade Phillips, although he had better players to work with in San Diego.

Round 12
  1. JunkyardJake.com selects Leon Washington, RB, Jets
Nobody could figure out the Jets running game last year, and I suspect that will be the case in 2007. He has definitely earned at least a 3rd down role behind Thomas Jones with his great rookie season, so he should have some value.

  2. WalterFootball.com selects Michael Clayton, WR, Buccaneers
Worth a shot in the 12th round. With Jeff Garcia at QB, there's a chance that Michael Clayton reverts to 2004 form. Not a big chance, but it could happen.

  3. FFToolbox.com selects DeShaun Foster, RB, Panthers
Great value at the 12th round, surprised hes still here. Should be a good bye filler or could help out if Barber or Peterson start struggling. Can be productive if he can stay healthy.

  4. FantasyFootballWhiz.com selects Matt Jones, WR, Jaguars
Matt Jones is going into moving into his third season in the NFL and as most everyone knows that is the breakout season for wide receivers. He finished the 2006 season with 41 receptions for 643 yards and four touchdowns. Fourteen of those receptions were for 20+ yards, which distinquishs him as the home run threat for the Jaguars. This should be the season that he really gets things going with his solid hands and blazing speed.

  5. FFJungle.com selects Randy McMichael, TE, Rams
McMichael is insurance for Ben Watson, who I am hoping will be a top tight end this year, but may also be the forgotten man with all of the weapons at Tom Brady's disposal. McMichael rejoins Scott Linehan, who was his offensive coordinator in Miami during one of his better seasons. I'm betting that McMichael will fit right in with the Rams offense, which should be potent this season.

  6. SportsGrumblings.com selects Jeff Garcia, QB, Buccaneers
    No comment available.

  7. RotoWorld.com selects Ron Dayne, RB, Texans
    No comment available.

  8. FantasyIndex.com selects Eagles Defense
Was looking for maybe Matt Jones here, but with him gone, I'm willing to take the last remaining defense I'm comfortable with as a starter. DC Jim Johnson has a proven track record, Takeo Spikes should help, and there are some shaky and/or inexperienced QBs in Philly's division.

  9. RotoTimes.com selects Adam Vinatieri, K, Colts
    No comment available.

  10. FantasyFootballXtreme.com selects Chris Henry, RB, Titans
    No comment available.

  11. FantasySportsCentral.com selects Muhsin Muhammad, WR, Bears
    No comment available.

  12. MonsterDraft.com selects Jake Delhomme, QB, Panthers
    No comment available.

Round 13
  1. MonsterDraft.com selects Dallas Clark, TE, Colts
    No comment available.

  2. FantasySportsCentral.com selects J.P. Losman, QB, Bills
    No comment available.

  3. FantasyFootballXtreme.com selects Rex Grossman, QB, Bears
    No comment available.

  4. RotoTimes.com selects Michael Vick, QB, Falcons
    No comment available.

  5. FantasyIndex.com selects Eddie Kennison, WR, Chiefs
    No comment available.

  6. RotoWorld.com selects Byron Leftwich, QB, Jaguars
    No comment available.

  7. SportsGrumblings.com selects Eric Parker, WR, Chargers
    No comment available.

  8. FFJungle.com selects Dwayne Jarrett, WR, Panthers
I'm drafting Jarrett based on potential. If he wins the starting wideout spot opposite Steve Smith, he is bound to put up numbers worthy of a late-round flier. However, with his combination of size and speed, he may be a servicable third receiver for my team depending on the matchup.

  9. FantasyFootballWhiz.com selects Buccaneers Defense
I believe that we see a resurgence of the Buccaneers defense with the drafting of Gaines Adams to build up a defensive line that failed to get continuous pressure on the quarterback. Also, the return of Raheem Morris as the defensive backs coach will work to improve one of the worst seasons defensively of the Gruden era in Tampa Bay. I see this unit becoming one of the best again in the NFL in 2007.

  10. FFToolbox.com selects Panthers Defense
The Carolina Panthers coming into last season were a Super Bowl favorite, with an elite defensive unit. The injury to MLB Dan Morgan crippled the enitire defense, and the entire unit struggled. As long as Morgan can stay on the field, I expect this defense filled with playmakers Ken Lucas, Richard Marshall, and Chris Gamble in the secondary; and Julius Peppers, and Kris Jenkins on the defensive line to rebound in 2007. The addition of rookie LB Jon Beason is also a plus.

  11. WalterFootball.com selects Tony Scheffler, TE, Broncos
The top pass-catching tight end on Denver's roster. Daniel Graham was brought in to block. Cutler and Scheffler have a great rapport.

  12. JunkyardJake.com selects Heath Miller, TE, Steelers
Not sure what to expect from Miller this year, but he certainly has the potential to be one of the top receiving TEs in the league and Pittsburgh is allegedly trying to work him into some of their multiple receiver sets as a wideout this preseason.

Round 14
  1. JunkyardJake.com selects Lorenzo Booker, RB, Dolphins
Probably a little early to take Booker, but he is a sensible handcuff to Ronnie Brown. Not to mention, he's a pretty damn good player, and probably a nice improvement over Brown's backup last year, Sammy Morris. In fact, I think Booker might run backwards faster than Sammy Morris runs forward.

  2. WalterFootball.com selects Matt Schaub, QB, Texans
Not a bad backup QB to have, in my opinion. Matt Schaub is an unknown. If he's great, he'll contribute to my team. If not, he's just a 14th-round pick.

  3. FFToolbox.com selects Devin Hester, WR, Bears
With the Bear's lack of playmakers, the electrifying rookie returner will force his way into the lineup in Chicago as a dual threat WR/RB. Hester has the unique ability to break a run anytime he touches the football making him an excellent player to take a shot on late in my draft. Anybody remember the last special teams ace that turned into a impact reciever? His name was Steve Smith; Devin Hester has alot in common.

  4. FantasyFootballWhiz.com selects Jeff Wilkins, K, Rams
I love what could come with Jeff Wilkins in 2007. Yes, rumor is circulating that Marc Bulger may hold out, but if he does or does not means that Wilkins will get his fair share of field goal attempts. He was second in the league in 50+ yard field goals made and was 100% accurate. Also, he was number one in the league in field goal attempts with 37. Got to love the possibilities that he brings to the table and have finally brought my starting lineup to full circle.

  5. FFJungle.com selects Robbie Gould, K, Bears
Gould finished first in kicking last year in this scoring system and should see plenty of opportunities again this season. He should round out my starting lineup nicely.

  6. SportsGrumblings.com selects Leonard Pope, TE, Cardinals
    No comment available.

  7. RotoWorld.com selects Robert Meachem, WR, Saints
    No comment available.

  8. FantasyIndex.com selects Ted Ginn Jr., WR, Dolphins
    No comment available.

  9. RotoTimes.com selects T.J. Duckett, RB, Lions
    No comment available.

  10. FantasyFootballXtreme.com selects Anthony Gonzalez, WR, Colts
    No comment available.

  11. FantasySportsCentral.com selects Brian Leonard, RB, Rams
    No comment available.

  12. MonsterDraft.com selects Shayne Graham, K, Bengals
    No comment available.

Round 15
  1. MonsterDraft.com selects Dolphins Defense
    No comment available.

  2. FantasySportsCentral.com selects Sidney Rice, WR, Vikings
    No comment available.

  3. FantasyFootballXtreme.com selects Kolby Smith, RB, Chiefs
    No comment available.

  4. RotoTimes.com selects Michael Jenkins, WR, Falcons
    No comment available.

  5. FantasyIndex.com selects Owen Daniels, TE, Texans
A note on my previous pick Ted Ginn Jr. -- I'm not convinced he won't be no better than the next Desmond Howard or Peter Warrick, but hopefully he's got a little Steve Smith/Santana Moss in him. As for Daniels, there's no reason why he shouldn't be the No. 2 receiving option in Houston this year, so he'll do fine as a No. 2 TE.

  6. RotoWorld.com selects Sammy Morris, RB, Patriots
    No comment available.

  7. SportsGrumblings.com selects Neil Rackers, K, Cardinals
    No comment available.

  8. FFJungle.com selects Najeh Davenport, RB, Steelers
Handcuff for "Fast" Willie Parker. 'Nuff said.

  9. FantasyFootballWhiz.com selects 49ers Defense
The additions to the San Francisco defense this off-season of Nate Clemens, Michael Lewis, Tully Banta-Cain and first round draft choice Patrick Willis will make this unit a marked improvement over last years dismal unit. The maturing of Manny Lawson, Shawntae Spencer and Keith Lewis have this unit becoming one of the best in 49er history...IMO.

  10. FFToolbox.com selects Wes Welker, RB, Patriots
Tom Brady's favorite target over the last several years has been slot reciever Troy Brown. Wes Welker was brought in as essentially a replacement for Brown. With deep threat's Randy Moss, and Donte' Stallworth, Welker will be wide open underneath for Brady in 2007. Welker will surprise many fantasy owners as a quality slot reciever in New England.

  11. WalterFootball.com selects Matt Stover, K, Ravens
I look forward to the day when kickers are no longer a part of fantasy football.

  12. JunkyardJake.com selects Stephen Gostkowski, K, Patriots
    No comment available.

Round 16
  1. JunkyardJake.com selects Packers Defense
Curtis takes the place of Stallworth as the Eagles deep threat. Hopefully he doesn't take the place of Stallworth as the guy on the injury report 50% of the year.

  2. WalterFootball.com selects Drew Carter, WR, Panthers
A potential sleeper. Drew Carter will be Carolina's new possession receiver in the wake of Keyshawn Johnson's release. Carter caught eight passes for 144 yards against the Giants on Dec. 10.

  3. FFToolbox.com selects Kenny Irons, RB, Bengals
Handcuff for Rudi Johnson assuming Chris Perry's nagging injuries persist in 2007. Irons is a home-run threat with pass catching ability as well. For now he's a third down back, but one injury and this guys going to be getting plenty of carries.

  4. FantasyFootballWhiz.com selects Jerome Harrison, RB, Browns
With news that Kevin Jones may not be ready until Week 8 of the season due to his foot, I am going to select one of my sleeper picks in Jerome Harrison. Yes, I know that currently Jamal Lewis is the starter in Cleveland. However, Harrison has done a considerable amount of work to get himself ready to compete this season with bulking up his lower body and working hard to learn the blocking schemes. Let us not forget that this kid put up a 6.2 ypc in last preseason and averaged 5.8 ypc at Washington State.

  5. FFJungle.com selects Anthony Thomas, RB, Bills
The "A-Train" was respectable when replacing Willis McGahee last year. This year, he is in a training-camp battle with Marshawn Lynch for the starting spot in Buffalo's backfield. Although most pundits have handed the job to Lynch at this point, that thinking may be premature--how often have we seen highly-touted rookies not secure a starting spot immediately when an adequate vetran is on the roster to teach them the ropes (Joseph Addai and Laurence Maroney come to mind last season) and provide experience at the position to start the season. Even if Lynch starts from day one, he has a history of injury--it's a safe bet that Thomas will start at least one or two games this year, maybe more. I just wish his bye week wasn't the same as Willie Parker's.

  6. SportsGrumblings.com selects Dwayne Bowe, WR, Chiefs
    No comment available.

  7. RotoWorld.com selects Raiders Defense
    No comment available.

  8. FantasyIndex.com selects Michael Robinson, RB, 49ers
    No comment available.

  9. RotoTimes.com selects David Martin, TE, Dolphins
    No comment available.

  10. FantasyFootballXtreme.com selects Tony Hunt, RB, Eagles
    No comment available.

  11. FantasySportsCentral.com selects Jason Elam, K, Broncos
    No comment available.

  12. MonsterDraft.com selects Daniel Graham, TE, Broncos
    No comment available.

Round 17
  1. MonsterDraft.com selects Marty Booker, WR, Dolphins
    No comment available.

  2. FantasySportsCentral.com selects Ben Troupe, TE, Titans
    No comment available.

  3. FantasyFootballXtreme.com selects Tab Perry, WR, Bengals
    No comment available.

  4. RotoTimes.com selects Chris Henry, WR, Bengals
    No comment available.

  5. FantasyIndex.com selects Josh Brown, K, Seahawks
    No comment available.

  6. RotoWorld.com selects Patrick Crayton, WR, Cowboys
    No comment available.

  7. SportsGrumblings.com selects Kevin Kolb, QB, Eagles
    No comment available.

  8. FFJungle.com selects Priest Holmes, RB, Chiefs
The news that Holmes has been medically cleared and will attempt to play this season changed my strategy at this pick. With Larry Johnson threatening a long holdout, Holmes may have some minor value. I fully expect LJ to return before the first regular season game; however, Holmes is a low-risk pick at this stage of the draft. If he is healthy, and LJ either extends his holdout into the season or is injured during the season, Holmes would be a solid replacement. He won't even sniff the 2,000 total yards and 27 touchdowns he has produced in the past, but he can still be an effective third or fourth back on a roster if given playing time. If not, I will cut him for a waiver-wire selection at some point.

Walt's Note: This could be the steal of the draft.

  9. FantasyFootballWhiz.com selects Greg Olsen, TE, Bears
The question here is will Greg Olsen, being the Bears first round selection, be the new receiving tight end for Mr. Rex Grossman. I honestly hope so, because he has all the talent in the world and Grossman does enjoy throwing to his tight end quite often, especially when he is in trouble.

  10. FFToolbox.com selects Marcus Pollard, TE, Seahawks
Pollard has fallen off the fantasy radar ever since leaving the Indianapolis Colts in 2005. Seattle has a history of involving their tight ends in the passing game, and with Darrell Jackson's 63 catches, 956 yards and 10 TD's now missing Pollard may play a large role in the Seahawks offense in 2007.

  11. WalterFootball.com selects Falcons Defense
The Falcons have a top-10 defense. I need a backup defense to play when the Patriots go against the likes of Indy, San Diego, etc. Atlanta is very schedule-friendly for me.

  12. JunkyardJake.com selects Chad Pennington, QB, Jets
    No comment available.

Round 18
  1. JunkyardJake.com selects Maurice Stovall, WR, Buccaneers
I know it's all about backup kickers, but I figured Stovall may be worth a shot. Michael Clayton may finally rediscover his rookie season form, but odds are it could be Stovall that becomes the viable #2 receiver in Tampa's offense. He's just as slow as Clayton, but a much better redzone target, and pretty good after the catch.

  2. WalterFootball.com selects Michael Pittman, RB, Buccaneers
    No comment available.

Walt's Note: I didn't post a comment because this was an automated selection. The thinking here is that Michael Pittman may see some opportunities if the semi-fragile Cadillac Williams goes down.

  3. FFToolbox.com selects Olindo Mare, K, Saints
Mare moves into to one of the NFL's most explosive offenses, and is now going to be kicking inside the SuperDome. Everything he needs for scoring chances, but I'm hoping he can rebound from his worst season in terms of accuracy (29th in the NFL in 2006).

  4. FantasyFootballWhiz.com selects Hank Baskett, WR, Eagles
I know that the Eagles signed Kevin Curtis to play opposite of Reggie Brown, but this owner believes that Hank Baskett is the better wide receiver of the two. He has solid hands and is able to do all the things that you would expect from a player at this level. Given the chance to compete, I believe that Baskett could easily take the starting gig away from Curtis.

  5. FFJungle.com selects Vikings Defense
I would have loved to grab another receiver at this pick, but there is little left that won't be available on the waiver wire. Minnesota's defense would probably have been available, too; however, I'm selecting them solely to be a bye-week replacement for Baltimore's D. Now I don't have to figure out who to cut when that time comes. On the other hand, Minnesota was a sturdy fantasy defense last season, so this pick may have additional value if I decide to start them based on a favorable matchup on a given week. In actuality, I doubt that will ever be the case, though.

  8. FantasyIndex.com selects Garrett Wolfe, RB, Bears

Plus he can stand next to Maurice Jones-Drew when my team is on the sidelines and make him look bigger.

  9. RotoTimes.com selects Correll Buckhalter, RB, Eagles
