Emmitt on the Brink. The premise: Coming off a Super Bowl victory, the Patriots open the 2013 season with a blowout win. Unfortunately, they get into trouble for Spygate II. As punishment, Roger Goodell orders the Patriots to fire Bill Belichick and replace him with Emmitt Smith. Three years later, the Patriots beat the Bears in the Super Bowl, 2-0. After the game, Emmitt announced his retirement. This is a weekly feature that will take a newspaper reporter’s perspective and follow Emmitt through his post-retirement days. THE SECOND SAGE MEETS HIS DEMISE

Evil Emmitt and Dante Fowler stood behind a dumpster, overlooking a Chicagoan three-story home. The building was brown and located in an urban area – a stark contrast compared to the mansion Evil Emmitt and Ezekiel Elliott visited two days ago.
“Something good smells in the trash can, do you think I can eat it?” asked Fowler, who was licking his lips. His eyes were bloodshot, and it was clear that he wasn’t completely focused on the task at hand.
“Idiot, paid attention,” Evil Emmitt snapped. “This real important. This so real important that it is real and not the opposite of real which is call not real.”
Fowler did as he was commanded, despite having the urge to stuff a stray orange peel into his mouth. Soon enough, the door opened.
A rather large man sporting a mustache grabbed a scrawny, bespectacled child by his suspenders. The man was wearing a policeman’s uniform, clutching a doughnut in the other hand. The buttons of his uniform were clinging to his shirt for dear life. The policeman’s fat jiggled as he carried the child out of his home.
“You destroyed my coffee table, and that was intolerable, and then you shattered my television, and that was even worse,” the fat policeman growled. “Now, you have committed the ultimate offense, fiend! You have broken my refrigerator, a high crime that can never be forgiven! Hark, you shall be banished from my humble abode for all eternity! I don’t care if you love my daughter and show this love by snapping pictures of her in the nude with your cellular device! Breaking a man’s refrigerator is punishable by death, but I do not have the means to dispose of your corpse, so begone, fiend!”
The fat policeman slammed the door on the scrawny kid’s face. The child looked like he was going to cry, but ceased his sobbing when he saw Fowler approach.
“Hey there, mister, I can’t ever spy on my precious Laura again,” the nerd complained.
Fowler paid no attention to the child’s worries.
“You are wearing spectacles, so you will pay the ultimate price!” Fowler shrieked, launching his fist toward the nerd’s face.
The glasses shattered in an instant, and the geek collapsed. A golden sphere rose out of his body, which Fowler grabbed and placed into his knapsack. The fat policeman observed all of this as he stared out of the window, fully content that his worries were finally at an end.
Hours later, Fowler was at Ohio State’s football facility. He stepped into the head coach’s office.
“Dante Fowler?” Urban Meyer asked. “You were at my former program after I departed, so I clearly recognize you. Why are you here?”
Fowler stepped forward and began rummaging through his knapsack.
“Ah, you have funds for me to give to my current players,” Meyer said. “No worries, Dante, for I have already paid all of my players, as well as their families. I didn’t use my personal finances, of course, for I stole the money from the campus blood drive to do so. I wouldn’t worry about it, as no one needs blood anyway; we have plenty of it in our own bodies.”
Fowler finally found the golden sphere. He took it out of his knapsack, which caused Meyer to step backward.
“Not that; anything but that!” Meyer pleaded. “I’ll do anything! I’ll give you the remaining funds from the blood drive, and also the clothing drive and UNICEF! I was going to pay the players this money based on how many victories they’ve accrued, but now it will all go to you! I swear!”
Fowler ignored Meyer’s pleas. He fired the sphere toward Meyer, and the two became one for a moment. As with Jerry Jones, Urban Meyer’s life energy drained quickly, and he soon vanished. Fowler retrieved the sphere and handed it to Evil Emmitt, who was waiting in the adjacent hallway with a cheeseburger in hand.
“Here your cheesehamburglar,” Evil Emmitt said.
Fowler stuffed the cheeseburger into his mouth, and then inserted the orange peel from earlier.
“Enjoy your orangemen appeal,” Evil Emmitt said. “And I will enjoyed having two sagemen debacled. Three sage in totals, and two already gone, so this mean I has eight left to go.”
CONFRONTING NORV TURNER’S TURKEY NECK ONCE MORE

There was only one place Norv Turner’s turkey neck would be. At least that’s what the striped leopard told real Emmitt while everyone was leaving Brett Favre’s mudhole in Mistissippi.
“Turkey Neck Town is a dangerous place,” the striped leopard warned. “Turkey necks might seem like trivial things in your realm, but in this world, they are evil abominations.”
“So, any idea how we’re going to use Brett Favre’s goose egg to defeat Norv Turner’s turkey neck?” the single ranger asked.
No one knew the answer to that, though they were all aware of how imperative the task was, as Norv Turner’s turkey neck shrouded the magical forest with dark magic. No one said a word, though that just prompted Peyton Manning to open his mouth once more.
“This awkward silence is brought to you by gingivitis,” Manning said. “Gingivitis, a form of gum disease that causes inflamed gums.”
“Enough of your damn advertisements!” the single ranger barked. “Your evil brother Eli isn’t around anymore. You don’t need to advertise diseases, and I’m not even sure gingivitis is a disease!”
Manning said nothing in response, and the four walked quietly until they arrived at the outskirts of Turkey Neck Town. The four perched themselves on an overlooking hill, behind some rocks so that no one could see them. Turkey Neck Town was bustling with activity, as thousands of turkey necks went about their business, whether it was going to work, traveling to school or making a trip to the grocery store.
“So, what are the planned?” real Emmitt asked. “I try to count all the falcon neck but I losted count because I only have five finger. Where we going to find Norm Turner falcon neck?”
“Norv Turner’s turkey neck is likely to be in the large white building in the middle of the town square,” the single ranger said. “Norv Turner’s turkey neck is the mayor of Turkey Town, and it appears to be business hours, at least for the moment, so he’ll be at work.”
“We should hurry though, since it could be nightfall any moment,” the striped leopard added. “I’m thinking Emmitt can use the paraglider to soar onto the mayor’s building.”
“Will not they not seed me?” real Emmitt asked.
“Most definitely not,” the single ranger said. “Turkey necks are below the chin, so they can’t look up into the sky. You won’t be seen by the time you land on the mayor’s building. Then, you can sneak down through the fire escape and into Norv Turner’s turkey neck’s office and use the goose egg to defeat Norv Turner’s turkey neck.”
“But howed that gonna worked?” real Emmitt asked. “I do not even has any idea what these falcon egg gonna do.”
“No one knows, Emmitt, but I guess something will happen,” the single ranger said. “That’s what Dragonlord Rosie O’Donnell prophesized.”
“Good luck, Emmitt,” the striped leopard said. “You can do it.”
“This unlikely mission is brought to you by-” Manning started.
“Shut up!” the single ranger growled, interrupting Manning.
Real Emmitt did as what was recommended, paragliding onto the mayoral building. As his friends speculated, no turkey neck caught a glimpse of him.
Descending the fire escape, real Emmitt reached a hallway with a sign pointing to the mayor’s office. Surprisingly, there was no one in the hallway, so real Emmitt didn’t have to evade anyone. He barged into the office and confronted Norv Turner’s turkey neck.
“Norm Turnball falcon neck, you under the arrest for making black, or Africa America magic in the magic forest,” real Emmitt declared. To his surprise, Norv Turner’s turkey neck smiled.
“Ah, Emmitt, so glad to see you,” Norv Turner’s turkey neck hissed confidently. “We all knew you were coming. You and your friends are done.”
Real Emmitt heard some shuffling behind him. He turned around and saw Wade Phillips’ turkey neck, Bill Murray’s turkey neck and Dustin Hoffman’s turkey neck blocking the door.
“Fellow turkey-neckers, grab Emmitt and his friends, and tie them up to the pyre,” Norv Turner’s turkey neck snarled. “We’ll set them ablaze come nightfall, whenever that may be.”
