NFL Draft Mailbag Notes: These are not actually e-mails. They are comments left on the comment board in my 2011 NFL Mock Draft. I've included some of these comments and my responses to them.
2011 NFL Draft E-mails - Random NFC Comments and Prospect Questions
I would love if the Rams selected Cameron Jordan, then selected Martez Wilson or Rahim Moore, Titus Young (who seems to be falling),John Moffitt and then Taiwan Jones. I think that would be an excellent draft.
--> Per reports, the Rams aren't into Cameron Jordan. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Jim Thomas has written that the Rams see Jordan as a "rich man's Victor Adeyanju," St. Louis' fourth-round pick in 2006 who is no longer with the team.
From Falcons Pick Will Not Be Right:
I totally big time dis agree about Brooks Reed to the Falcons. I think Brooks should be a 5 or 6 rounder.
--> Well, that's your opinion. Brooks Reed will go in the first round (or top of the second at the latest) because pass rushers are a premium in the NFL, and he possesses immense upside.
Reed is the type of player the Falcons are looking for, like it or not.
From Vikings Fann:
vikes dont need a TE they need like 2 WR
--> Like it or not, the Vikings will be targeting a tight end in the 2011 NFL Draft. Visanthe Shiancoe has been a disappointment, and he'll be a free agent following the 2011 season.
Waaaay off on jake locker. He will go in the middle of the first round no question.
--> If you say so. I mean, why shouldn't a 2-year project with miserable accuracy, decision-making and football IQ go in the middle of the first round?
Why did you put Randall Cobb over Torrey Smith and Jonathan Baldwin?
--> Randall Cobb's generating some serious buzz right now, whereas Jonathan Baldwin has character concerns and Torrey Smith's small hands may be an issue. These prospects could go in any order though.
Duuude Bowers at 24... are you high.
--> Because teams are going to be lining up to draft a one-year wonder who needs knee surgery.
Walt, I want to say that you gave the Cowboys a realistic draft. I liked the strategy of going after a CB in the 1st and then come back for another CB in the 3rd. I believe the quality of Cbs will be greater at the end of the 1st round verses DE. Adoree allows Dallas to say good-by to Lucky Whitehead. Scandrick has been in and out so I'm glad to see another CB picked in the 3rd round. Xavier in the 4th covers our Safety concern and Rivers gives the Boys a DE. Derek may not be a War Daddy, but he will help in the Marinelli rotation. I think we might look for a QB (CJ Beathard) or RB (Aaron Jones) in the 6th, but it could be a WR also. Nice job and I would be pleased if we came away with this draft..!!
