NFL Draft Mailbag Notes: These are not actually e-mails. They are comments left on the comment board in my 2011 NFL Mock Draft. I’ve included some of these comments and my responses to them.

2011 NFL Draft E-mails – Combine Hate Mail

Walter loves to degrade any AUburn players.

–> True story. As a Penn State alumnus and fan, my hatred for Auburn runs deep since, you know, Penn State and Auburn are huge rivals. In fact, it was I who poisoned the trees! Muhahahahahahaha!!!

From Robbie:

I think you’re putting a little too much stock into 40 times!

–> The 40 was what got Trent Williams drafted over Russell Okung. If 40s aren’t important, why does every single coach sit there with a stop watch and write everyone’s time down? And besides, if you run a great 40, Al Davis will give you a 3-year, $31.5 million contract.

From Mitch:

Adding you dont know anything when it comes to strategy. Russel Okung is a straight-ahead blocker he would struggle in a zone blocking scheme compared to Trent Williams.. thats something that Mike Shannahan runs if you didnt know.

–> And that’s something the Seahawks run as well, if you didn’t know – and yet Russell Okung had a much better rookie year than Trent Williams.

–> Damn it. My bias against the Big 12 was supposed to be my greatest joke ever. But if Tech Fan doesn’t think it’s funny anymore, then I guess it’s not funny anymore.
