I've gotten a few e-mails since the draft, asking me how my 2008 NFL Mock Draft compared to others. I had seven selections right. In a normal year, I'd be disappointed, but I consider that a success based on the absolute madness that went down on Draft Day. I've never seen such an inexplicable number of dumb GMs constantly reaching and trading up like lunatics.
As for the rest of the media, Mel Kiper and Todd McShay also had seven picks right. Mike Mayock had nine, I believe. NFL.com's Vic Carucci had only five.
How about the rest of the mocks on the Internet? I've looked through all the ones that had Jake Long as the top selection (all other ones are probably way off.) A correct pick is defined by whether or not a prospect was drafted at that position; not by the same team at another selection. Doing the latter would create problems (for instance, I had the Cowboys drafting Felix Jones later on, so counting that as correct would be confusing.)
The number correct is in the right-hand column. Keep in mind that this is for FIRST-ROUND PICKS ONLY! If you don't feel like browsing, these mocks all had more picks correct than I had (7). Links are lower down:
