-
Jacksonville Jaguars: Matt Barkley, QB, USC
The Jaguars can't go into the 2013 season with Chad Henne and Blaine Gabbert as their quarterbacks. They just can't. No one would go to the games - flashy uniforms or not. There are rumors that Jacksonville likes both Ryan Nassib and Matt Barkley. The latter is the one who is available.
Follow @walterfootball for updates.
Pick change; previously Geno Smith, QB
-
San Francisco 49ers: Jonathan Cyprien, S, Florida International
Despite making the Pro Bowl, Donte Whitner wasn't very good this past year (he surrendered more touchdowns than any safety). Dashon Goldson, meanwhile, left for Tampa Bay in free agency. The 49ers, who might want to upgrade the secondary after Joe Flacco torched them in the Super Bowl, will need a replacement.
Jonathan Cyprien made this big leap recently. There's so much buzz about him recently, and there are multiple reports indicating that several teams have him ranked as the No. 2 safety in this class. He could go as high as No. 21 to the Bengals.
Pick change; previously D.J. Hayden, CB
-
Philadelphia Eagles: E.J. Manuel, QB, Florida State
Chip Kelly said there would be competition at the quarterback position. He probably meant between the signal-caller he just retained, Dennis Dixon and whomever he drafts in Round 2 or 3. I can't see Nick Foles staying on the roster; he doesn't fit the offense, and the Eagles can get a third-rounder at the very worst for him.
E.J. Manuel is the best fit for Kelly's offense out of the signal-callers available at this juncture, though maybe the Eagles will move up for Geno Smith.
-
Detroit Lions: Menelik Watson, OT, Florida State
As I mentioned in Round 1, the Lions are desperate for a left tackle in the wake of Jeff Backus' retirement. Menelik Watson has been mentioned as a possible first-round selection, so he could be the top player on Detroit's board.
-
Cincinnati Bengals: Eddie Lacy, RB, Alabama
BenJarvus Green-Ellis rushed for 100-plus yards in four of the five games prior to battling Pittsburgh, but that's mostly just great blocking rather than the Law Firm improving. One of the Bengals' top priorities is finding a capable running back.
As mentioned in the 2013 NFL Draft Rumors page, we received word from a reliable source saying that the Bengals are "all in" on Eddie Lacy. This makes sense, as Cincinnati loves Alabama prospects.
Pick change; previously Kyle Long, OT
-
Arizona Cardinals: Larry Warford, G, Kentucky
The Cardinals consider guard to be a much greater need than tackle. If they draft a lineman in the first two rounds, it'll probably be an interior player.
-
New York Jets: Zach Ertz, TE, Stanford
The Jets need a replacement at tight end after losing Dustin Keller to the Dolphins. They reportedly love Zach Ertz, so they'll take him if he's available at this juncture.
-
Tennessee Titans: Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State
This is a steal for the Titans, as I had to slot Bjoern Werner somewhere. I removed him from the Giants' pick, and I had trouble finding a spot for him. I'm sure someone will trade up for him in the beginning of the second round if he falls.
Defensive end is a need for Tennessee though. The Titans have zero depth behind Derrick Morgan and Kamerion Wimbley, and in a division that features Matt Schaub and Andrew Luck, they need all the pass-rushing help they can get.
-
Buffalo Bills: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee
General manager Buddy Nix, who is generally forthcoming about his offseason plans, told the media that he plans on drafting a franchise quarterback. He also said that he desperately wants a wide receiver across from Stevie Johnson. The Bills get lucky here, as Cordarrelle Patterson falls right into their laps.
Pick change; previously Robert Woods, WR
-
Miami Dolphins: Robert Alford, CB, Southeastern Louisiana
Brent Grimes was signed, but cornerback is still a huge need for Miami. Counting on Grimes, who is coming off a torn Achilles, would be foolish, so the Dolphins could easily go after two corners relatively early in the 2013 NFL Draft.
-
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Margus Hunt, DE/DT, SMU
The Buccaneers lost Michael Bennett and Roy Miller this offseason, so they have to find help on the defensive line. They've shown interest in Margus Hunt.
Pick change; previously Terron Armstead, OT
-
Carolina Panthers: Darius Slay, CB, Mississippi State
The Panthers cut Chris Gamble, so they desperately need some help at the cornerback position.
Pick change; previously Kawann Short, DT
-
San Diego Chargers: Justin Pugh, G/OT, Syracuse
Even if the Chargers are lucky enough to obtain Lane Johnson at No. 11, they'll likely draft another lineman on Day 2. They're in desperate need of guard help.
-
St. Louis Rams: Johnathan Franklin, RB, UCLA
The Rams just lost Steven Jackson to the Falcons, so they'll have to find another running back to compete with Daryl Richardson and Isaiah Pead.
Pick change; previously Eddie Lacy, RB
-
Dallas Cowboys: Montee Ball, RB, Wisconsin
The Cowboys are expected to use a Round 2-4 pick on a running back. Jerry Jones recently said that none of DeMarco Murray's current backups are considered No. 2 runners.
Pick change; previously Damontre Moore, DE/OLB
-
Pittsburgh Steelers: Kevin Minter, ILB, LSU
The Steelers, as they always do, catch a falling prospect. Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette recently reported that the Steelers could be targeting an inside linebacker early in the 2013 NFL Draft. Kevin Minter may go at the end of the first round, so he's a steal at this juncture.
-
New York Giants: Alex Okafor, DE/OLB, Texas
Giant fans know that general manager Jerry Reese loves drafting pass-rushers. With Osi Umenyiora gone and Justin Tuck coming off a down year, Reese may select a defensive end early this April.
-
Chicago Bears: Arthur Brown, LB, Kansas State
I had Arthur Brown going to Chicago in the first round a couple of weeks ago, but I'm hearing he could fall a bit because of some injury concerns. The Bears have shown lots of interest in him, however, so they could move up a few spots in Round 2 to land the talented linebacker.
The Bears once had a strong group of linebackers, but Nick Roach just signed with the Raiders, while Brian Urlacher was told to hit the road because he wouldn't accept $2 million for 2013. D.J. Williams was signed, and while he's currently projected to replace Urlacher in the middle, he could ultimately move to strongside linebacker if Chicago can land someone as talented as Brown.
-
Washington Redskins: Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State
The Redskins signed E.J. Biggers and retained DeAngelo Hall, so they're OK at cornerback for now. However, Biggers, Hall and Josh Wilson all have expiring contracts in March 2014. Long-term corner help is needed.
-
Minnesota Vikings: Robert Woods, WR, USC
The front office has to add more talent to complement a very inconsistent Christian Ponder especially in the wake of the Percy Harvin trade. Go here to see my grade for the Percy Harvin trade. Multiple wideouts had to be obtained for Ponder prior to the Greg Jennings signing. One more is still needed.
Pick change; previously Keenan Allen, WR
-
Cincinnati Bengals: Kyle Long, OT/G, Oregon
It was once considered a given that the Bengals would retain Andre Smith, but ProFootballTalk recently reported that Cincinnati is now expected to let Smith walk away and instead search for a cheaper replacement at right tackle in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Pick change; previously Johnathan Franklin, RB
-
Kansas City Chiefs: Kiko Alonso, ILB, Oregon
I'm giving Kansas City this pick for the rumored Branden Albert trade. It sounds like it's going to happen very soon.
The Chiefs pretty much sent everyone to Oregon's Pro Day, so Andy Reid had a good look at Kiko Alonso, who could perhaps be Jovan Belcher's replacement.
-
Green Bay Packers: Giovani Bernard, RB, North Carolina
James Starks has yet to prove that he can stay healthy, while Alex Green has shown nothing in several starts. Cedric Benson is obviously not a long-term answer, though I've been impressed with DuJuan Harris in his limited action. Still, the Packers are expected to address the running back position at some point in the 2013 NFL Draft.
-
Seattle Seahawks: Quinton Patton, WR, Louisiana Tech
The Seahawks traded for Percy Harvin, but they could be in the market for another wideout because Sidney Rice is so unreliable. They're reportedly heavily interested in Quinton Patton.
-
Houston Texans: Jon Bostic, ILB, Florida
There's a ton of uncertainty at inside linebacker for Houston. Brian Cushing is coming off a torn ACL, Bradie James is an impending free agent who isn't very good, while neither Tim Dobbins nor Darryl Sharpton is worthy of starting.
-
Denver Broncos: Johnathan Hankins, NT, Ohio State
The Broncos signed Terrance Knighton, but that doesn't mean they won't add another interior lineman. Jack Del Rio loves having multiple massive defensive tackles. Think back to his days in Jacksonville with Marcus Stroud and John Henderson.
-
New England Patriots: Markus Wheaton, WR, Oregon State
It's no secret the Patriots need receiving help in the wake of losing both Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd this offseason. Markus Wheaton fits exactly what Bill Belichick looks for in a receiver, and this is the right draft range for him.
-
Atlanta Falcons: Cornelius Washington, DE/OLB, Georgia
The overpaid Ray Edwards was cut during the season. John Abraham was also released recently. Defensive end will be a priority early in the 2013 NFL Draft, and the Falcons may even double dip at the position in the first few rounds.
-
San Francisco 49ers: John Jenkins, NT, Georgia
The most frustrating part about creating this year's mock draft is finding a spot for all of the nose tackles. There are just too many, and there aren't enough teams that need them. The 49ers, as an example, don't value the position highly, but I think they'll see the value in obtaining someone like John Jenkins at the end of Round 2 or the beginning of Round 3.
Pick change; previously Margus Hunt, DE/DT
-
Baltimore Ravens: Sio Moore, LB, Connecticut
The Ravens like Sio Moore's versatility. They desperately need help at linebacker in the wake of Ray Lewis' retirement, Dannell Ellerbe's departure and Rolando McClain's ridiculous arrest.
Pick change; previously Darius Slay, CB

Isn't it annoying to anyone else that seemingly every fan thinks it's their team that will draft Honey Badger? It really shows the stupidity and gullibility of fans.

i dont know that seems kinda thin. im sure there would be some trades going on and they are in the mix right now behind closed doors. i bet kc or oakland would do as you suggest for the leepfrog senario, if the bills and cards want the best QB ranked in this draft. if carson palmer is on the market soon the bills or cards would try for the pick up and probibly void that senario. because who would trade up for a qb that may naturaly fall to 7 or 8

Hey dumdum, how about showing some respect? Jones would be a nice addition to the Steelers. As for "Steelers" there's no way the they would draft two players with as many off the field drug problems like Rambo and Mathieu. Mauti has had two ACL injuries and another knee injury late in the season.
I like the Jones and Minter picks. DOn't like Davis in the third. Too injury prone and fumbles a ton. Reid is a much better choice there.
Cool Trade Scenarios

With it looking like Flynn will be a Raider, that makes Geno falling out of the top 5 a little more likely, though not a lock by any means.
If he does fall to #6, it would be interesting for the Browns to see if the Bills are willing to move up to leapfrog Arizona. Cleveland could see if it could move it's first and third rounders for Buffalo's first and second rounders. After that then, if the Rams were interested, the Browns could try to move #8, #41 and another mid-round pick (a 4th or a 2014 3rd perhaps, or both if needed) to the Rams for #16 and #22 overall. St. Louis might think picking at #8 and having two early-to-mid 2nd rounders is better than their current situation, especially if C. Patterson enters the draft with his stock on the rise. The Browns could go Cooper, OG, UNC at #16 to finally have a capable guard on the team. At #22, Cleveland could move down a couple spots (say to 26-ish) a recoup that 4th rounder they traded to St. Louis. At #26, I could see the Browns calling up one of those QB-hungry teams looking for Barkley. Instead of asking a team like Arizona to move up from the 2nd round, CLE could instead ask for a 2014 first-rounder and a mid-round pick. The NO and NE Mark Ingram trade is a precedent. From having just the #8 and #68 overall picks, Cleveland could get Jonathan Cooper and generate a 2014 first-rounder, while the Cardinals find their QB in Barkley and still have players drafted at #7, #38 and #69 to build him an O-line. This all sounds pretty wild, but if you're any one of these teams, I think it all looks pretty intriguing and you've gotta think about pulling the trigger on these deals.

WHAT????
Why would the Patriots draft a DT when they have much weaker positions???? I think they trade down for more value picks next year, but if they don't I see them taking a CB,DE,S or even WR in the first round although I don't see them taking a S or a WR in the first round. Conclusion: No way the pats draft a DT in the first round!
