2011 NFL Mock Draft: Round Seven
Last update: Thursday, April 28, 2011, 3:30 PM. Final update.

This 2011 NFL Mock Draft order is based on the official 2011 NFL Draft Order.
Next update: Thurs evening. Follow me @walterfootball for updates.
This 2011 NFL Mock Draft order is based on the official 2011 NFL Draft Order.
-
Green Bay Packers: Chris L. Rucker, CB/FS, Michigan State
The Packers don't have many needs, but every team could always use secondary depth.
-
Detroit Lions: Jamie Harper, RB, Clemson
Detroit has to find a reliable power complement for Jahvid Best, who looks like he'll be banged up often throughout his career.
-
Buffalo Bills: Matt Murphy, G, UNLV
More offensive line help for the Bills. They've worked out Matt Murphy several times.
-
Cincinnati Bengals: Josh Bynes, LB, Auburn
Dhani Jones, a 33-year-old free agent, struggled in 2010. Too many Febreze commercials.
-
New York Jets: Chykie Brown, CB, Texas
The Jets have shown some interest in Chykie Brown. It never hurts to have enough talented cornerbacks.
-
Seattle Seahawks: Stevan Ridley, RB, LSU
It wouldn't hurt to bring in someone to push Marshawn Lynch.
Stevan Ridley somehow received a second- to third-round grade from the draft advisory committee back in January. Let's see how accurate they were.
-
Atlanta Falcons: David Arkin, G, Missouri State
Atlanta will need some help up front if some of their free agent linemen leave.
-
San Francisco 49ers: Andre Smith, TE, Virginia Tech
The 49ers have been looking at lots of tight ends in the past month. They'll probably take one late in the 2011 NFL Draft.
-
Tennessee Titans: Ryan Jones, CB, NW Missouri State
Cortland Finnegan is entering his contract year, so the Titans may look for a late-round prospect who could compete for a job in 2012.
-
Washington Redskins: Evan Royster, RB, Penn State
Mike Shanahan's next late-round 1,000-yard rusher?
-
Houston Texans: Cheta Ozougwu, DE/OLB, Rice
Don't be surprised if the Texans draft multiple rush linebackers for their new 3-4 defense.
-
Minnesota Vikings: Scott Lutrus, OLB, Connecticut
Ben Leber is a free agent, so he'll have to be re-signed or replaced.
-
St. Louis Rams: Byron Maxwell, CB, Clemson
The Rams haven't addressed their secondary yet in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft.
-
Miami Dolphins: T.J. Yates, QB, North Carolina
The Dolphins won't take a quarterback early. Instead, they'll sign a veteran to compete with Chad Henne, and they'll also select a signal-caller late in the 2011 NFL Draft.
-
Miami Dolphins: Anthony Gaitor, CB, Florida International
The Dolphins were so desperate for cornerback help last year that they had Al Harris play three games.
-
Oakland Raiders: Aldrick Robinson, WR, SMU
It wouldn't be an NFL Draft if the Raiders didn't obtain a speedy receiver.
-
Dallas Cowboys: Keith Darbut, DE/OLB, Baldwin-Wallace
The Cowboys would probably like to add a player to push the disappointing Anthony Spencer.
-
New York Giants: Ollie Ogbu, DT, Penn State
The defensive tackle position can be addressed, and the Giants have shown interest in Ollie Ogbu.
-
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jeff Maehl, WR, Oregon
In the wake of Arrelious Benn's injury, the Buccaneers will probably address the receiver position late in the 2011 NFL Draft.
-
Kansas City Chiefs: Dane Sanzenbacher, WR, Ohio State
It would not surprise me at all if the Chiefs double dipped at receiver in the 2011 NFL Draft. There's just no talent at the position beyond Dwayne Bowe.
-
Washington Redskins: Andrew Jackson, G, Fresno State
The Redskins will have to use multiple picks in the 2011 NFL Draft to fix their offensive line.
-
Baltimore Ravens: Alex Linnenkohl, C, Oregon State
Matt Birk, 35, is entering his contract year. He offered to groom his own replacement.
-
New Orleans Saints: Ronald Johnson, WR, USC
The Saints don't need a receiver, but Ronald Johnson provides good value in the middle of the seventh round.
-
Philadelphia Eagles: Brian Rolle, OLB, Ohio State
Considering their depth issues at the position, it'll be a surprise if the Eagles don't spend multiple picks on linebackers.
-
St. Louis Rams: Jermale Hines, SS, Ohio State
More secondary help for the Rams. They appear to like Darian Stewart, but some competition wouldn't hurt.
-
Atlanta Falcons: Mike Mohamed, ILB, California
The Falcons have looked at a bunch of linebackers this draft season, including Mike Mohamed. He'd provide some much-needed depth.
-
Atlanta Falcons: Justin Rogers, CB/KR, Richmond
In a division with Drew Brees and an improving Josh Freeman, the Falcons will need as many talented corners as possible.
-
San Francisco 49ers: Steven Friday, DE/OLB, Virginia Tech
This is similar to Atlanta's situation with defensive ends - if the 49ers don't acquire a rush linebacker until Day 3, they may double dip at the position.
-
Pittsburgh Steelers: Noel Devine, RB, West Virginia
I haven't given the Steelers a skill-position player yet. Noel Devine is great value in the middle of Round 7.
-
Green Bay Packers: Mark Herzlich, ILB, Boston College
Mark Herzlich can offer depth at inside linebacker if Nick Barnett is released. I hope Herzlich goes higher than this because of what he's overcome. Herzlich looks pretty stiff in coverage, but he can improve. He's definitely worth a shot in Rounds 5-7.
-
San Diego Chargers: Eddie Jones, DE/OLB, Texas
The Chargers have to spend a late-round selection or two on their abysmal special teams.
-
Miami Dolphins: Darren Evans, RB, Virginia Tech
Another late-round running back just in case the Dolphins can't sign DeAngelo Williams.
-
Minnesota Vikings: Doug Hogue, OLB, Syracuse
Pick a position, any position. The Vikings pretty much need help everywhere.
-
Philadelphia Eagles: Derek Hall, OT, Stanford
A late-round project for Howard Mudd to work with.
-
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Joshua Portis, QB, California-PA
A late-round quarterback just in case the Buccaneers manage to trade Josh Johnson once the lockout ends.
-
San Francisco 49ers: Keith Williams, G, Nebraska
The 49ers haven't addressed their offensive line yet in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft.
-
Philadelphia Eagles: Darvin Adams, WR, Auburn
The Eagles have worked out several receivers during the draft season, so they may spend a selection on that position in Rounds 5-7.
-
Oakland Raiders: Eric Gordon, LB, Michigan State
Thomas Howard is leaving, so the Raiders may spend a late-round pick on a linebacker for depth.
-
Seattle Seahawks: Nathan Enderle, QB, Idaho
Charlie Whitehurst started two games in 2010. He was abysmal in one, and was pretty average in the other. Seattle may look into drafting a quarterback to compete with Whitehurst as Matt Hasselbeck's successor.
-
New Orleans Saints: Mistral Raymond, S, South Florida
The Saints like to draft defensive backs. Because they don't have many selections, I haven't been able to give them one yet.
-
Carolina Panthers: J.T. Thomas, OLB, West Virginia
Strongside linebacker James Anderson is a free agent. The Panthers need to make sure they're OK if they can't retain him.
-
Buffalo Bills: Eric Hagg, S, Nebraska
Donte Whitner is a free agent and it doesn't sound like he'll be coming back. This draft pick is for depth purposes.
-
Cincinnati Bengals: Justin Boren, G, Ohio State
The Bengals would be smart to bring in someone to push Andre Smith.
-
Denver Broncos: Schuylar Oordt, TE, Northern Iowa
John Fox loves his blocking tight ends - though unlike Josh McDaniels, he knows he can wait until Round 7 to get one.
-
Cleveland Browns: De'Aundre Reed, DE, Arizona
I'll be pretty surprised if the Browns don't double dip at some of the key 4-3 positions; they don't have anything at defensive end.
-
Arizona Cardinals: Chas Henry, P, Florida
Arizona punter Ben Graham is a 37-year-old free agent. Why not find a replacement in the seventh round?
-
San Francisco 49ers: Kai Forbath, K, UCLA
Another special teams upgrade for an NFC West team. Joe Nedney is 38 and keeps getting injured.
-
Tennessee Titans: Pat Devlin, QB, Delaware
The only quarterback the Titans currently have on the roster is Rusty Smith. That's not good.
-
Dallas Cowboys: Da'Rel Scott, RB, Maryland
I don't expect Marion Barber to be with the Cowboys in 2011. If I'm right, Dallas will be looking for someone new in the backfield.
-
Washington Redskins: Chris White, ILB, Mississippi State
It's hard to imagine Rocky McIntosh sticking around after struggling in the 3-4. Meanwhile, London Fletcher turns 36 in May.
If you're looking for details about McIntosh playing poorly in the 3-4 - a Redskins homer in the comment board questioned this - note that opposing quarterbacks completed 91.5 percent of their passes against McIntosh in 2010, good for second-worst amongst all inside linebackers. McIntosh was also tied for sixth in missed tackles amongst all linebackers (both inside and outside), finishing only three behind the leader, Will Witherspoon. Furthermore, McIntosh surrendered 407 yards after the catch; this was third-worst amongst all inside linebackers, with Kevin Burnett and Paris Lenon topping the charts in that dubious category.
-
Houston Texans: Ryan Donahue, P, Iowa
Mr. Irrelevant is a punter! Houston's current punter, Matt Turk, turns 43 in June. He's also a free agent coming off a poor year.

Texan fan here. Love wht the texan did in the draft! Year after year I sit and watch us apply zero amount of pressure on the opposing quarterbacks and watch our backend fall apart. I wish wade philips ran a hybrid 3-4 like pitt and baltimore but I'll take his system. Every teams drafts always look so good, but its all about staying healthy to actually enjoy watching these young players potential unfold in front of us. Brooks reed really can b a 14 sack guy for us,all i'd like out of jj watt is to push his man into the qbs face, and brandon harris is a better dunta robinson believe it our not and their games are actually pretty identical. We need to get rid of jacoby jones and amobi okoye (or try him at end) , and sign vonta leach. In free agency we need another wr, cornerback, defensive tackle, and get sum project olb's. If we could have gotten Kevin burnett last yr in free agency i'd love what we'd have going forward. That's all I have! Thanks for listening oooooo and by the way, after watching that lsu, ncarolina game this yr I knew tj yates would b apart of this team. Love his pocket awarness!!!

I hate the damn Tigers. I allways loved the Lions more than the Tigers but now they are a bunch of fat ass lazy over-payed mexicanns who play when they feel like it. The Lions even when they sucked played hard and I allways will respect them more. The Tigers need to trade away all those fat ass bums and start rebuilding around great pitching.

J-E-T-S JETS took Greg McIlroy in the seventh. I think this kid will master their offense and could be given a job as an assitant to their offensive cordinator and I think he could work his way up to being someones offensive cordinator.

Stephen Tulloch will sign with the Lions as a free agent because Jim Schwartz coached him in Tennesse and the two have a great relationship. He brought Vanden-Boesch over from the Titans and now Tulloch is next I think. We then move Deandre Levy to outside linebacker so Tulloch can play inside. We resign Chris Houston at corner back and then sign Chris Carr, Antonio Cromartie or maybe Nnamdi Asmougha. I think the first two are more likely though and would be a pretty good corner back tandem. Nnamdi Asmougha would be the dream scenario. But this is when free agency starts and man I hope its soon.

Never mind Clay Mathhews got taken while I was writing that. I would still rather have Greg Jones though. I am a MSU fan and after watching the guy, I think he is exactly what they need; a tackling machine who is never afraid to hit someone and never takes a play off.

Wow great draft for the Lions. I would give it an A- right now because they didn't address the biggest areas of concern. They have 2 picks left after the trade and I'm hoping that Greg Jones falls to their next pick, if not then Clay Mathhews. After that just take the most talented player available because you usually don't fill needs with your last pick.
