2011 NFL Mock Draft: Round Six
Last update: Thursday, April 28, 2011, 3:30 PM. Final update.
Next update: Thurs evening. Follow me @walterfootball for updates.
This 2011 NFL Mock Draft order is based on the official 2011 NFL Draft Order.
Next update: Thurs evening. Follow me @walterfootball for updates.
This 2011 NFL Mock Draft order is based on the official 2011 NFL Draft Order.
-
Carolina Panthers: Jordan Todman, RB, Connecticut
If DeAngelo Williams signs elsewhere, the Panthers may spend a late-round pick on a running back.
-
Cincinnati Bengals: Ryan Winterswyk, DE, Boise State
The Bengals should probably take out a mid- or late-round insurance policy just in case Antwan Odom gets hurt again.
-
Cleveland Browns: Derrick Locke, RB, Kentucky
Peyton Hillis wore down the stretch, while Montario Hardesty is coming off injury. The Browns need a pass-catching running back, and Derrick Locke is way too good to pass up in Round 6.
-
Buffalo Bills: Jarriel King, OT/G, South Carolina
The Bills need to upgrade their offensive line so Christian Ponder isn't killed.
-
Cleveland Browns: Greg McElroy, QB, Alabama
Cleveland acquired this selection from Denver for Brady Quinn.
The Browns will probably spend a late-round selection on a developmental quarterback.
-
Arizona Cardinals: Bruce Miller, DE/OLB, Central Florida
The Cardinals will probably draft a couple of rush linebackers this April. Their pass rush really needs to improve.
-
Minnesota Vikings: Charles Clay, TE, Tulsa
During the NFL Network's Combine coverage, Steve Wyche said the following, "I know for sure the Vikings are looking for a tight end."
-
Seattle Seahawks: Stanley Havili, FB, USC
Seattle acquired this pick from Detroit for Lawrence Jackson.
The Seahawks have really missed Leonard Weaver's presence over the past couple of years. They'll be looking for a new lead blocker this offseason.
-
San Francisco 49ers: Deunta Williams, FS, North Carolina
Coming off an injury-ridden down year, Dashon Goldson is a free agent. Bringing him back and having him start in 2011 wouldn't be the end of the world, but the 49ers can do better at the position.
-
Tennessee Titans: Nate Irving, LB, N.C. State
The Titans may draft two linebackers this weekend based on their need at the position.
-
Dallas Cowboys: Jeremy Kerley, WR, TCU
Roy Williams is due a whopping $9.25 million in 2011. There's no way he's going to see that money. If the Cowboys part ways with him, they'll need to find a new tertiary option for Tony Romo.
-
Washington Redskins: Byron Stingily, OT, Louisville
Jammal Brown is a free agent. If the Redskins can't retain him, they'll need some help at right tackle.
-
Houston Texans: Chris Neild, NT, West Virginia
With Amobi Okoye as their only option, the Texans are in the market for a nose tackle.
-
Miami Dolphins: Ricardo Lockette, WR, Fort Valley State
The Dolphins need an upgrade at receiver across from Brandon Marshall because Brian Hartline is not progressing as the team would like.
-
Baltimore Ravens: Terrance Toliver, WR, LSU
The Ravens double dip at receiver; despite all of those wideout additions Baltimore made to its roster last year, the cupboard's pretty bare.
-
Oakland Raiders: Mario Fannin, RB, Auburn
Michael Bush is a free agent. If he leaves, the Raiders will need a power back complement for Darren McFadden.
-
Jacksonville Jaguars: Ryan Whalen, WR, Stanford
Mike Sims-Walker is a free agent, and the Jaguars don't exactly have the best depth behind Mike Thomas.
-
San Diego Chargers: Shiloh Keo, SS/ST, Idaho
The Chargers will be looking to strengthen their special teams this offseason. Shiloh Keo also provides secondary depth.
-
Arizona Cardinals: Anthony Sherman, FB, Connecticut
Arizona acquired this pick from Philadelphia for Reggie Wells.
The Cardinals could use an upgrade at fullback to help their lackluster rushing attack.
-
New York Giants: Jonas Mouton, OLB, Michigan
Keith Bulluck is a 34-year-old free agent. The Giants are in need of an upgrade at linebacker.
-
Denver Broncos: Johnny White, RB, North Carolina
John Fox loves utilizing multiple running backs, and the best available player might just be Johnny White, whom Denver has shown interest in. With White in the backfield, the Broncos won't be completely lost if (or rather, when) Knowshon Moreno gets hurt next season.
-
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Cortez Allen, CB, The Citadel
Despite Aqib Talib's recent arrest, the Buccaneers won't go after a cornerback early. They'll look at one in the middle rounds, and someone they really like is Cortez Allen.
-
Indianapolis Colts: Martin Parker, DT, Richmond
Daniel Muir could be the worst starting defensive lineman in the NFL. Bill Polian has to fix this.
-
Denver Broncos: Jeron Johnson, SS, Boise State
Denver acquired this pick from New England in the Laurence Maroney trade.
Brian Dawkins has had a great career, but he can no longer be allowed to start. He's done.
-
San Francisco 49ers: Thomas Keiser, DE/OLB, Stanford
San Francisco acquired this pick from Seattle for Kentwan Balmer.
Both Parys Haralson and Ahmad Brooks are inconsistent pass-rushers across from Manny Lawson. The 49ers need someone more dependable to get to the quarterback.
-
Baltimore Ravens: Cedric Thornton, DE/DT, Southern Arkansas
If the Ravens can't land Cameron Heyward at No. 26, they'll have to spend a later choice on a five-technique.
-
Atlanta Falcons: Pierre Allen, DE, Nebraska
The Falcons weren't able to secure a defensive end until the fourth round in this version of my 2011 NFL Mock Draft. If this happens in real life, Atlanta could opt to double dip at the position.
-
New England Patriots: Adrian Moten, LB/ST, Maryland
All of New England's needs have been filled, so this is pick is for depth and special teams.
-
New York Jets: Joe Lefeged, S, Rutgers
The Jets will be looking for safety help this offseason. They've shown interest in Joe Lefeged.
-
Chicago Bears: Roy Helu, RB, Nebraska
The Bears doth protest too much about not cutting Chester Taylor. It could be some sort of a smokescreen because Taylor is old and overpaid.
-
Pittsburgh Steelers: Alex Henery, K/P, Nebraska
The Steelers need a kicker (Shaun Suisham isn't good) and a punter (Daniel Sepulveda just had his third knee surgery.) As Emmitt would say, why not kill two stones with one bird? Alex Henery is a stud kicker and punter.
-
Green Bay Packers: Scott Tolzien, QB, Wisconsin
So many teams need a quarterback that the Packers may just get a good deal for Matt Flynn. If so, they'll find another signal-caller to groom.
-
New York Giants: Tim Barnes, C, Missouri
New York hasn't made the playoffs in the past two years, thanks in part to its pedestrian offensive line. Help is needed at left tackle and center.
-
Kansas City Chiefs: Jason Kelce, C, Cincinnati
ESPN's Bill Williamson reported that there's a 50-percent chance that Casey Wiegmann, 38 in July, will retire this offseason. The Chiefs need a successor and some insurance just in case Wiegmann hangs it up.
-
Minnesota Vikings: Richard Sherman, CB/FS, Stanford
Age and injury issues pollute Minnesota's cornerback corps. I know the Vikings just spent a second-round pick on Chris Cook, but they still need to address the position.
-
San Diego Chargers: Willie Smith, OT, East Carolina
The Chargers will reportedly try to re-sign Jeromey Clary. If they can't, they'll need some help at right tackle.
-
New York Giants: Jerrard Tarrant, S, Georgia Tech
The Giants have a habit of getting torched deep by their opponent. A quality safety could change that.
-
Carolina Panthers: Sealver Siliga, DT, Utah
The Panthers will probably double dip at defensive tackle this April. They really need help at that position.

Thanks RP I missed that. I try to take a step back from fatsany until Feb otherwise I become totally obsessive! I'll be interested to know when the next one is although it would depend a lot on the timing as I'm a Brit.I'm not a big Konerko fan, and I'm more likely to have jumped at one of the higher 1B, it's just that I feel that he fitted a need much more than Pence, who could easily be replaced by another 5 guys beneath him.I think relying on Davis and Pena would bring you trouble. Pena brings power to the table but I could easily see him batting .220 or .230. Davis has upside but that is a very risky 1B combo.

Meyers, J. R., and F. Schmidt. Predictive Validity of the Structured Assessment for Violence Risk in Youth (SAVRY) With Juvenile Offenders. Criminal Justice and Behavior 35.3 (2008): 344-55. Web. This authors goal in this jrnauol is to identify what teens are at risk for youth violence. The article focuses on how violent teens are in society and who is most at risk for this. Both Meyers and Schmidt did research on different socioeconomic groups and genders, and they had the patients come back in three years later to see if anything had changed about how they were acting.Welsh, B. C., R. Loeber, B. R. Stevens, M. Stouthamer-Loeber, M. A. Cohen, and D. P. Farrington. Costs of Juvenile Crime in Urban Areas: A Longitudinal Perspective. Youth Violence and Juvenile Justice 6.1 (2008): 3-27. Print. The purpose of the article is to show the relationship between youth violence and the damages that are caused by this violence. The article uses a study to help identify high risk children and uses the results to base their article on. The author’s goal is to explain to people how juvenile violence affects cost and how the age of a juvenile affects future costs of damages.Maschi, T., C. A. Bradley, and K. Morgen. Unraveling the Link Between Trauma and Delinquency: The Mediating Role of Negative Affect and Delinquent Peer Exposure. Youth Violence and Juvenile Justice 6.2 (2008): 136-57. Print. The article focuses mainly on males and juvenile violence. The article mentions how delinquency and or stressful life situations on a child or teenager can trigger violence and juvenile delinquency. The article also relates how trauma can affect peer relationships. The reason the author wrote this article is to help people better understand the underlying cause of violence in youth, and why it is important for it to be helped.Vaughn, M. G., C. E. Newhill, M. DeLisi, K. M. Beaver, and M. O. Howard. An Investigation of Psychopathic Features Among Delinquent Girls: Violence, Theft, and Drug Abuse. Youth Violence and Juvenile Justice 6.3 (2008): 240-55. Print. The author’s sole purpose in this article is to show the effects of violence on girls and how they will react later in life to violence. This is an important factor because it helps show the difference from previous articles how violence may affect boys differently than girls, and who is more likely to become violent. The main purpose of the article is to present evidence that girls are in fact violent, and this fact is proven, showing that girls can in fact be affected more by violence than boys.Leiber, M. J., K. Y. Mack, and R. A. Featherstone. Family Structure, Family Processes, Economic Factors, and Delinquency: Similarities and Differences by Race and Ethnicity. Youth Violence and Juvenile Justice 7.2 (2008): 79-99. Print. The purpose of this article is to show how family processes, race, and economic factors can lead to delinquency later in life. The author uses knowledge and research to back up his claims and provides a table of variables to show the difference between different races and classes of families, and which ones are more likely to be in delinquency.

Also states that the women who commit the crime usually do not get arrested for it, unlike with the male counterpart. This ofrfes a great counter-argument.
