By the way, the fourth-annual Walter/Joker Annual Challenge is on, as I'll be competing with the Joker's College Picks. We each pick five games and see who does the best each week.
Akron at Ohio Line: Ohio by 20.5. Saturday, 2:00 p.m.
As a disclaimer, don't go nuts with my college football picks. I'm much better at picking NFL games (at least I used to be); I'm just doing these upon request. Follow @walterfootball for updates.
This line is inflated because Ohio is unbeaten. With all of the talk of an undefeated season, the Bobcats could be nervous and choke away a game. It may not be this one, but it'll be close. Akron has just one victory, but they play teams pretty tightly. They lost at Tennessee by only 21, and I'd say the Vols are better than the Bobcats.
College Football Pick: Akron +20.5 (2 Units) -- Correct; +$200
Oregon State at BYU Line: BYU by 6. Saturday, 3:30 p.m.
I don't quite get this line. BYU is not very good. No one respects Oregon State.
College Football Pick: Oregon State +6 (1 Unit) -- Correct; +$100
Texas-San Antonio at Rice Line: Rice by 3. Saturday, 3:30 p.m.
People haven't caught on to Texas-San Antonio yet. They've blown out every team they've played recently. They shouldn't have a problem with Rice.
College Football Pick: Texas-San Antonio +3 (1 Unit) -- Incorrect; -$110
Boston College at Florida State Line: Florida State by 27.5. Saturday, 5:00 p.m.
The Seminoles no longer have a chance to win the national title, so they're going to be reeling off that loss to N.C. State. Boston College, meanwhile, hasn't lost by more than 14 to anyone all year.
College Football Pick: Boston College +27.5 (1 Unit) -- Incorrect; -$110
South Carolina at LSU Line: LSU by 3. Saturday, 8:00 p.m.
I picked against LSU last week because I believed they were overrated. It still seems like that's the case. The wrong team is favored in this matchup. And no, I don't expect the Tigers to rebound; in fact, I think they'll be flat because their national title dreams are down the toilet.
College Football Pick: South Carolina +3 (3 Units) -- Correct; +$300
@Steel Willy The funny thing is, OLB, S, and CB entered free agency as bigger needs than DL, RB, and WR and in free agency, DL, RB, and WR depth were all added while out of OLB, S, and CB, depth was added to only one of those positions, yet Walt ignores CB, S, and OLB but gives them RB, WR, and DL. Another funny thing is offense is the stronger unit, yet the majority of the picks for Pittsburgh is offensive players. Not to mention, Buddha Baker and Derek Rivers being available at pick 62, and Walt having Pittsburgh pass on both is insanity
I like the change for the lions in round 1, adoree jackson had to go. DT from Auburn is a need, not as pressing as others (DE, LB, CB) but with him being a pass rusher it kinda makes up for it. RB and TE round 3 and 4? I don't hate it but it sounds more Martin Mayhew than Bob Quinn. I thin the run on defense in 4 out of the first 5 picks.... The Kareem Hunt pick I like but hopefully later than a 3
