College Football Picks: Week 2

College Football Picks (Week 1, 2012): 1-4 (-$460)

College Football Picks (2012 Season): 1-4 (-$460)
College Football Picks (2011 Season): 36-32-2 (-$390)
College Football Picks (2010 Season): 37-31-2 (+$190)
College Football Picks (2009 Season): 34-34-2 (-$3,820)
College Football Picks (2008 Season): 49-38 (+$3,020)

By the way, the fourth-annual Walter/Joker Annual Challenge is on, as I'll be competing with the Joker's College Picks. We each pick five games and see who does the best each week.

New Mexico at Texas
Line: Texas by 38.

Saturday, 8:00 p.m. (time change)

As a disclaimer, don't go nuts with my college football picks. I'm much better at picking NFL games; I'm just doing these upon request. Follow @walterfootball for updates.

I think my picks will be better this week. I watched a ton of college football last weekend, so I now have a good feel for the teams. Well, that, and I can't possibly do much worse. New Mexico State New Mexico won't be competitive with Texas.

College Football Pick: Texas -38 (2 Units) -- Correct; +$200

Toledo at Wyoming
Line: Wyoming by 3.

Saturday, 4:00 p.m.

Wyoming, coming off a big loss, should not be favored over Toledo. I like the visitor to win straight up.

College Football Pick: Toledo +3 (2 Units) -- Correct; +$200

Wisconsin at Oregon State
Line: Wisconsin by 7.5.

Saturday, 4:00 p.m.

When in doubt, bet against the crappy Big Ten. Wisconsin is getting a ton of action, yet the spread has gone from -8 to -7.5. Something's up.

College Football Pick: Oregon State +7.5 (1 Unit) -- Correct; +$100

Fresno State at Oregon
Line: Oregon by 34.

Saturday, 6:30 p.m.

This is yet another complete mismatch. Oregon should wipe the floor with Fresno State.

College Football Pick: Oregon -34 (2 Units) -- Incorrect; -$220

Kent State at Kentucky
Line: Kentucky by 7.

Saturday, 7:30 p.m.

Kentucky is garbage. That loss against Louisville could affect their focus in this game.

College Football Pick: Kent State +7 (1 Unit) -- Incorrect; -$110

College Football Saturday is back! Got a few underdog plays for today.

Western Michigan +9.5
They need to replace an NFL receiver but I still like them to hang around. 3 units

Northern Illinois +9.5
This is a home dog I like. The D-line and secondary is very experienced but the O may need a little time to figure it out. 2 units

Boston College +3
They return 10 starters on Offense and while they have to replace their tackling machine Keuchley they still have an intact defense. I like the home dog. 5 unit

With Michigan's starting RB being suspended I might jump on the Bama bandwagon. Now I just don't know if they have enough offensive firepower to get through the Bama D. Of all the heavy favorites today, I like Oklahoma and Georgia if I had to pick.

We shall. And even though Louisville has some experience now, they are still one of the youngest teams in the country. I believe they only lose one defensive starter next season and their best skill players on offense are underclassmen.

The weather will definitely impact the game in some fashion

destroyed itself, the NCAA and the media did what was necessary (someone had to act like adults). They weren't a legitimate team prior to the child rape/cover up scandal. A win over Ohio is a big victory for PSU.
Still I would take PSU in this one. Bet the farm...

@Richard
Good points. Louisville does have that one year of experience on UK this year. UK is now in the position of having young players in key positions. We will see how both teams handle their roles. The weather could be an interesting factor as heavy rain is expected by kickoff. I think it will be more of a 10 point game. We will see Sunday

@bfs

As you said it's the first game of the year so I'm still not sure what conference play has anything to do with it. Yes it was a close game last year but anyone that follows the two teams could see Louisville took their play to another level once the freshman QB got some experience and UK stayed the same. Offensively I'd say the teams are close (although one could argue Louisville is more talented at every skill position) but defensively I think Louisville has a fairly large advantage. I believe it will remain within the spread until the second half but predict a 34-10 outcome.

Ummm...the NCAA and media didn't destroy Penn State the sick coach and higher ups at that university did. For you to say the NCAA and media did is sheer stupidity.
