Stanford vs. Wisconsin
Line: Stanford by 6.5.
Jan. 1, 5:00 p.m.
As a disclaimer, don't go nuts with my college football picks. I'm much better at picking NFL games (at least I used to be); I'm just doing these upon request. Follow @walterfootball for updates.
No one expected Stanford to be in the Rose Bowl exhibition game prior to the season. I doubt the Cardinal players expected it. But here they are, ready to take on the Big Ten champs. They'll be up for Wisconsin, a team that just isn't very good. Trust me, I've bet against the Badgers a couple of times this year.
College Football Pick: Stanford -6.5 (1 Unit)
Northern Illinois at Florida State
Line: Florida State by 13.5.
Jan. 1, 8:30 p.m.
Remember when Florida State was undefeated and everyone was talking about the team possibly battling Alabama in the national championship? Well, the Semionles have certainly fallen. Sure. they've been invited to a meaningless BCS bowl (aren't they really just the same as the other ones?) but they have to take on Northern Illinois. Why would they care about stupid Northern Illinois? Meanwhile, the Northern Illinois players have spent the past month listening to why they don't belong in a stupid BCS bowl. They'll be pumped to prove everyone wrong.
College Football Pick: Northern Illinois +13.5 (2 Units)
Oregon vs. Kansas State
Line: Oregon by 8.5.
Jan. 3, 8:30 p.m.
What was that Kansas State loss to Baylor? Seriously, how was an undefeated team embarrassed like that against a mediocre opponent so late in the year? The Ducks are at least legit. They should be able to prevail over Bill Snyder, who has a 4-9 spread record in bowl games.
College Football Pick: Oregon -8.5 (1 Unit)
Kent State vs. Arkansas State
Line: Arkansas State by 3.5.
Jan. 6, 9:00 p.m.
The fourth BCS bowl I'd like to discuss is Kent State versus Arkansas State. This one must be super important because it's being played just one day prior to the national championship.
This may surprise you, but this is Kent State's first bowl appearance since 1972. I was certainly shocked because I assumed the Flashes made it to one when Julian Edelman quarterbacked the team. They'll be pumped to play Arkansas State.
College Football Pick: Kent State +3.5 (2 Units)
Alabama vs. Notre Dame
Line: Alabama by 9.5.
Jan. 7, 8:30 p.m.
Always bet on the SEC team in the BCS championship*. That's what I've learned over the years. Dating back to 2006, the SEC is a perfect 5-0 versus non-SEC competition in the BCS championship.
* - Note that this is not technically the national championship. This is the BCS Championship. The winner wins the BCS, but if the voters should choose to vote, say, Texas A&M No. 1 after this contest, the Aggies would technically split the title with Alabama. Just sayin'.
Alabama has too much defensive power for Notre Dame's offense to handle. In fact, the Tide's speed is just going to be overwhelming. The Irish should be competitive for a while, but Alabama will eventually pull away and win by 14-20 points.
College Football Pick: Alabama -9.5 (1 Unit)

I think the weather's going to be a factor in this one. Scattered rain and a wet field has me eyeing the over. I do like cincy at -7 though. Homefield inclimate weather in front of what should be a sellout. I do like to bet underdogs and rely on defense on these one game televised nights, but this weather is gonna make it sloppy with slot missed tackles.
Good luck fellas @bird Philly has nothing to play for. They've got everything locked up and are looking into the post season. I like San Fran though.

Fair points all - I appreciate the diolgue / thoughts. If it were easy we'd all win all the time, but not the case. I do think this line opened at 7 (maybe 6.5) and so although majority of money on home team, I think that caused the line to move up to as high as 8 (that I saw). Not saying you are not right that the sharps (or Vegas) is not on the visitor, just a POV.

@WALT
I like your NCAA & NFL PICKS a lot this week. I have a gut feeling this weekend you and most of us start turning things around. Now it is clear, you were a smart gambler to get out of MLB when you did and I respect that. I went on a great hot streak and won a lot but now Im gasping for air after this bad beat week. Thanks man!!! Keep doing what you do best!!! Im still trying to work my way out of this MLB pre-postseason horrible cold streak like the rest of you. This is what Im thinking tonight. Let me know what you think about these.... PHILLIES ML (proceed w/ caution...can we trust Oswalt to get them out of the slump?) GIANTS ML (Bumgardner has been great lately and his teams postseason hopes are high having something to play for) CINCINNATI ATS (better team and I believe they cover tonight) CINCINNATI/NC STATE UNDER (high scoring teams slow it down tonight and play strong defense w/ a lot of turnovers, public is pounding the over so it keeps going up) I dont know...baseball has me all twisted up and pissed off. Good Luck. Let me know if you have insight on these. bird

Good luck to you 2 sir, Cincy might take it no doubt but, look who they have played and all the points those team have given up... Cincy offense might be looking good through those tainted glasses.... I might be 1000% wrong but I think NC +7.5 is the play... Also look that 76% of the bets placed are on Cincy..the line goes down... that tells me the big money and big guys are all on NC State..JMHO

Good luck Potski....I think that break-down is enough in this case, but if you want we could talk about how they are on the road (usually worse for bad teams); Cincy is pretty solid, at least on O; and it will be a hostile crowd for ESPN in Cincy. Thought that was a bit much initially, but apparently not.
