NCAA Football Weekly Predictions
Week 10

Note: Like my NFL picks, my college picks were very mediocre at 5-5. Just 1-2 Double Money Picks. Blah. By the way, I've challenged Scott Horn over at The Joker Report to see who's better at picking games. We each have 10 selections for the week. Winner places a text ad for the other for an entire week. For legality purposes, this Web site does not promote or advocate gambling.

Virginia Tech (6-2) at Georgia Tech (5-3)
Line: Georgia Tech by 2.5.

Thursday, 7:45 ET

The Yellow Jackets aren't underdogs, but they're at home on a weeknight, watching the money flow toward the visitor. What's with the public always backing the road team on Thursday night games anyway? If Georgia Tech were an underdog, this would be a huge play. Let's keep it small.

Prediction: Georgia Tech 24, Virginia Tech 16
Georgia Tech -2.5 (2 Units - Money Pick) -- Incorrect; -$220
Virginia Tech 27, Georgia Tech 3

Nevada (4-4) at New Mexico State (4-5)
Line: Nevada by 7.

Friday, 8:00 ET

Here we go! Live home dog. The public pounding the visitor (90 percent). Weeknight. As Emmitt Smith would say, "These dog are gonna be bark tonight!"

Prediction: New Mexico State 34, Nevada 30
New Mexico State +7 (3 Units - Money Pick) -- Correct; +$300
Nevada 40, New Mexico State 38

Syracuse (2-6) at Pittsburgh (3-5)
Line: Pittsburgh by 13.

Saturday, 12:00 ET

Who is Pittsburgh to be favored by 13 over anyone not named Notre Dame? What makes them so great? Their upset over an overrated and flat Cincinnati squad? The fact they hung with crappy Louisville? Syracuse should be able to stay within two touchdowns.

Prediction: Pittsburgh 23, Syracuse 16
Syracuse +13 (1 Unit) -- Correct; +$100
Pittsburgh 20, Syracuse 17

Purdue (7-2) at Penn State (6-3)
Line: Penn State by 7.

Saturday, 12:00 ET

Purdue is the biggest fraud ever. Joe Tiller always beats up on cupcakes and goes down against talented teams. Despite losing last week, I feel that the Nittany Lions are one of the top 25 teams in the country. I think their defense will shut down Curtis Painter. I actually can't even remember the last time Joe Paterno lost to Tiller. I don't think Joe Pa can remember either, but that's fine.

Prediction: Penn State 31, Purdue 14
Penn State -7 (1 Unit) -- Push; -$10
Penn State 26, Purdue 19

Wisconsin (7-2) at Ohio State (9-0)
Line: Ohio State by 15.5.

Saturday, 12:00 ET

I think this spread tells you everything you need to know about this game. The oddsmaker wants you to take the Badgers because they really stink. Penn State destroyed them, 38-7 a few weeks ago. Todd Boeckman grew up at Happy Valley last week, and will continue to improve, as he destroys a Wisconsin squad that never should have been in the Top 20.

Prediction: Ohio State 44, Wisconsin 10
Ohio State -15.5 (1 Unit) -- Correct; +$100
Ohio State 38, Wisconsin 17

Florida International (0-8) at Arkansas State (3-5)
Line: Arkansas State by 17.5.

Saturday, 3:00 ET

Who is Arkansas State to be favored by 17.5 over anyone not named Notre Dame? The Indians are only 3-5 with a -8 turnover margin. Three of their past four games have been losses of 17 or more. The reason for the big spread is obviously Florida International's 0-8 record. However, the Panthers have played tough teams like Kansas, Penn State, Miami, Maryland and Arkansas. Not exactly a Sun Belt schedule.

Prediction: Florida International 27, Arkansas State 17
Florida International +17.5 (3 Units - Money Pick) -- Correct; +$300
Arkansas State 27, Florida International 24

Army (3-5) at Air Force (6-3)
Line: Air Force by 16.5.

Saturday, 3:30 ET

Forget Alabama-LSU and Oregon-Arizona State! We're covering Air Force-Army on this site! I love taking double-digit underdogs in huge rivalries. Army isn't a big football school right now, so how heated is this battle? To find out, I asked my cousin Steve, who was in the Air Force:

"People flock from cities far away. The academies get really into it. It's a day on the calender for the most part. It's not as big as the Army-Navy game, but it's No. 2."

There you have it. Army has covered three out of the past four times it was a double-digit underdog against Air Force. Oh, and by the way, I'd take Oregon and LSU with the points if I had to choose. Too close to call.

Prediction: Air Force 34, Army 26
Army +16.5 (4 Units - Double Money Pick) -- Incorrect; -$440
Air Force 30, Army 10

Michigan (7-2) at Michigan State (5-4)
Line: Michigan by 4.

Saturday, 3:30 ET

I told Steve he's responsible if people lose money using the Air Force-Army pick on my site. He responded, "Good. I enjoy people losing money by my lack of knowledge."

Nice. Michigan State sucks. I know I'm going with the public here, but Michigan has covered the last two trips to East Lansing, simply because it has more talent than the Spartans.

Prediction: Michigan 27, Michigan State 20
Michigan -4 (1 Unit) -- Push; -$10
Michigan 28, Michigan State 24

Utah (0-8) at Fresno State (5-3)
Line: Fresno State by 20.5.

Saturday, 5:00 ET

Utah State intrigues me. The Aggies are 0-8, yet are 4-4 against the spread. They've covered three of their last four games. They're playing hard; they just can't seem to get in the win column. Utah State has a better turnover margin (-1) than Fresno State (-8) so it might be able to hang the number.

Prediction: Fresno State 34, Utah State 24
Utah State +20.5 (3 Units - Money Pick) -- Correct; +$300
Fresno State 38, Utah State 27

Oregon State (5-3) at USC (6-2)
Line: USC by 15.

Saturday, 8:00 ET

Can you tell I don't like too many games on the schedule? I bet on Utah State and Florida International, for crying out loud. I'm taking Oregon State here. USC shouldn't be favored by more than a touchdown over anyone not named Notre Dame. The Beavers have won and covered their last three.

Prediction: USC 24, Oregon State 20
Oregon State +15 (1 Unit) -- Incorrect; -$110
USC 24, Oregon State 3

Second-Half Bets
Check back at halftime to see if I have any plays posted. All picks 2 Units, unless noted.

  • Kansas State -8.5 -105 -- Incorrect; -$210
  • Vanderbilt +7 -115 -- Correct; +$200
  • UAB +3.5 -115 (1 Unit) -- Correct; +$100
