Round 1

1. Browns: Sam Darnold, Quarterback, USC

Top needs: QB, CB, OT, S

Okay. Browns have no clue what they are doing. They have Tyrod - nice band-aid. But they go out and give 5M/year to Carlos Hyde. They already have Duke Johnson at 2M cap hit. I had them taking Sam Darnold before trading for Tyrod, then I had them taking Barkley. Back on the Darnold bandwagon. They don't know how to draft anyway so maybe they'll take a punter.

2. Giants: Saquon Barkley, Running Back, Penn State

Top needs: QB, OL, RB, DL

Rosen or Nelson? That's the question IF Saquan Barkley is gone at #1. Well the Browns mucked up again. Barkley goes to NY, he's from the Bronx, so nice backstory. Giants haven't had a legit running back for half a decade. Might just prolong the Eli Manning experience in NY as well.

3. Jets: Josh Allen, Quarterback, Wyoming

Top needs: QB, EDGE, OG, OT

Jets move up, swapping 1sts and giving up 3 additional 2nd round picks. So we know they are taking a QB, and they are at least comfortable taking the 3rd best QB, but not the 4th best QB (Mayfield?). Rosen's stock has fallen, while Allen has risen. IF the Giants go Barkley, and the Jets have their choice, Allen seems like the most likely at this time. Big arm, but the accuracy is below average. Jeff George anyone?

4. Browns: Bradley Chubb, Defensive End, N.C. State

Top needs: QB, CB, OT, S

I believe they'll trade out of this spot with the Bills for 12 & 22. If not it's Fitzpatrick or Chubb. I'm giving the edge to Chubb, no pun intended. Chubb could be the best pick out of the top-5 or top-10 selected if he ends up posting double digit stats opposite Myles Garrett.

5. Broncos: Quenton Nelson, Offensive Guard, Notre Dame

Top needs: CB, EDGE, OL, TE

They signed Keenum, 2/36M. They'll still need a successor, but their window is closing. They'll continue to groom Lynch, and work on making one last push with it's current core. I had Nelson to the G-men, but Barkley was sitting there. Nelson IMO is the 2nd best player in this draft.

6. Colts: Minkah Fitzpatrick, Safety, Alabama

Top needs: EDGE, LB, OL, WR

Colts thought they'd still land Chubb or Nelson. Oops. They go BPA and take Fitzpatrick. Otherwise, they continue to trade back and grab the 12th and 22nd from the Bills.

7. Buccaneers: Vita Vea, Defensive Tackle, Washington

Top needs: DE, CB, RB, S

Chubb and Fitzpatrick are both off the board here. Ideal fits for the Bucs. Derwin James, might be a reach at 7. As is Denzel Ward. Vita Vea showed the power at the combine - 41 reps. He can play effectively in a 4-3 or a 3-4, which gives the Bucs the ability to switch up in-game schemes. Issues about his motor and effort, but when he's engaged, he's a big disruption.

8. Bears: Tremaine Edmunds, Outside Linebacker, Virginia Tech

Top needs: CB, OL, EDGE, DL

It's kind of kismet here. His comps are former great Brian Urlacher. He should be a can't-miss prospect. If there weren't so many QB-starved teams at the top of this draft, he'd be in the Top-5 of this year's draft.

9. 49ers: Calvin Ridley, Wide Receiver, Alabama

Top needs: EDGE, OG, CB, WR

They've got the QB, now they'll give him a weapon to throw to. Ridley posted good enough speed to justify being the 1st WR off the board. Really the only WR with a sure-fire 1st round grade.

10. Raiders: Roquan Smith, Outside Linebacker, Georgia

Top needs: LB, CB, S, OT

There's a lot of talent on the defensive side of the ball in this draft that will slide due to the QB getting over-drafted. Smith makes sense for the Raiders, even if they bring Bowman back.

11. Dolphins: Da'Ron Payne, Defensive Tackle, Alabama

Top needs: QB, TE, OLB, DT

Okay I said "let's say the cut Suh" well the cut Suh. Da'Ron Payne has the size, motor, and skill to become a pro bowl caliber DT. You could put Vea here, but I think the National Championship tape shows a slightly higher ceiling than Vea.

12. Bills: Baker Mayfield, Quarterback, Oklahoma

Top needs: QB, OL, WR, DB

Bills traded up. The best QBs available here are either Josh Rosen or Baker Mayfield. I'll give the nod to Mayfield. He's a gamer and can start on Day 1. Heisman trophy winners aren't a lock to be quality QBs in the NFL. Cam and Carson Palmer is/was very good players, Mariota and Winston look good so far, but RG3, Manziel, Bradford, Tebow, Troy Smith, Leinart, Jason White, Eric Crouch, and Chris Weinke all have had sub-par to no career in the NFL since 2000.

13. Redskins: Derwin James, Safety, Florida State

Top needs: DL, LB, CB, QB

"There's no comparison for him at safety," says another scout. "Maybe Myles Jack or [Jabrill] Peppers in terms of pure athlete." Well I've heard the Sean Taylor comps as well. Redskins have a need, and he is an elite talent.

14. Packers: Joshua Jackson, Cornerback, Iowa

Top needs: DB, OT, WR, EDGE

You would think obviously OL right? No one can stay healthy on that line, which means Rodgers can't stay healthy. Not a great OL draft. I think you have to go corner here. Ward or Jackson... Jackson has the ball skills, maybe that's enough to make up for his subpar 40 time.

15. Cardinals: Lamar Jackson, Quarterback, Louisville

Top needs: QB, OL, WR, DB

Sam Bradford was signed to a 2 year deal, maybe he'll play 3 or 4 games a year given his track record. Fitzgerald has maybe 1 or 2 years left in him. David Johnson is coming back from injury. And... they are messing around with a once stout defense. With the Rams, Seahawks, and 49ers all looking formidable next year, Cards will opt for the future.

They better hope Sam Bradford holds up at least 1 year, because Lamar Jackson needs development time, but he could be Cam 2.0.

16. Ravens: Mike McGlinchey, Offensive Tackle, Notre Dame

Top needs: TE, ILB, OL, WR

They could go Ronald Jones or Derrius Guice here, but Alex Collins looked good last year and they can find a back in the mid rounds. They signed Crabtree, but still need weapons for Joe. I don't see the value from any position of real need with Ridley off the board, probably too high for Gesicki. An edge rusher or upgrade on the OL make the most sense - I do feel like this is a bit high for McGlinchey though, not going to lie.
