Week 7
These are my NCAA Top 25 rankings.
-
Ohio State (6-0)
I'm pretty sure a quarterback is doing a good job when he has as many touchdowns (three) as incompletions. Troy Smith pretty much has the Heisman locked up.
-
Michigan (6-0)
I can't say that I'm upset John L. Smith is on the hot seat at Michigan State. After what he did to Louisville in his final season, I can only say: "What goes around, comes around."
-
Florida (6-0)
Will Florida lose to an angry Auburn squad next week? If not, the Gators should be fine until the SEC Championship.
-
Texas (5-1)
Is anyone else surprised that a freshman quarterback beat his fifth-year counterpart in the Red River Shootout? It looks like Colt McCoy has a bright future ahead of him.
-
Louisville (5-0)
Has anyone ever checked if Middle Tennessee State is actually in the middle of the state of Tennessee? If not, someone should sue for false advertising.
-
USC (5-0)
USC will go down to California.
-
Tennessee (5-1)
Tennessee has a great chance of winning the NCAA Football Tournament. No, the college presidents haven't realized that they are cheating everyone; I was talking about the tournament on this Web site.
-
California (5-1)
It looks like scheduling that road game at Tennessee was a huge mistake; the Golden Bears could be undefeated right now.
-
Arkansas (5-1)
If Arkansas had a rematch with USC, I guarantee the result would be different. I don't think anyone gave the Razorbacks a chance at Auburn -- myself included.
-
Auburn (5-1)
Hey, Auburn. Arkansas has a freshman quarterback, so it will be running the ball and almost every play. All you have to do is stop the run. I guess that's too easy.
-
LSU (3-2)
LSU's two losses were at the hands of Auburn and Florida. Not bad.
-
West Virginia (5-0)
I still not a believer in West Virginia. Call me crazy, but I don't think a team that can't throw the ball or play defense has a shot at going undefeated.
-
Notre Dame (5-1)
It didn't look like Charlie Weis had his team prepared for Stanford. The Fighting Irish should have won by at least 40.
-
Clemson (5-1)
It's a good thing Clemson came back and defeated Wake Forest; losing to the Demon Deacons is unacceptable, and should be a firable offense.
-
Missouri (6-0)
Missouri brings some respectability to the Big XII North. It's about time.
-
Iowa (5-1)
I have to give credit to Kirk Ferentz for the way his team regrouped after losing to Ohio State.
-
Boise State (6-0)
Poor Louisiana Tech never had a chance on Boise State's smurf turf. And as you can probably guess, I'm rooting for Boise State to go undefeated. The more, the merrier.
-
Oregon (4-1)
I guess we now know who the top two teams in the PAC-10 are.
-
Oklahoma (3-2)
Has anyone else noticed that Oklahoma has disappointed ever since John Blake's players graduated?
-
Penn State (4-2)
Revenge Game of the Year for Penn State. Michigan ruined the Nittany Lions' chances at the National Championship last year. It's payback time.
-
Georgia Tech (5-1)
Georgia Tech deserves to fall in the standings after nearly losing to Maryland at home.
-
Georgia (5-1)
Did you notice that Georgia was ranked higher than Tennessee despite being an underdog at home? I wonder who knows more: the Vegas oddsmakers or the brain-dead AP voters. Hmmm...
-
Nebraska (5-1)
Beatdowns on the horizon: Oct. 21 vs. Texas; Nov. 4 vs. Missouri.
-
Virginia Tech (4-1)
It was a good thing Virginia Tech had a week off after that Georgia Tech debacle. That said, I think they need about another month off.
-
Washington (4-2)
Washington should protest the clock mismanagement at the end of the USC game last week. College football can be so corrupt sometimes.
